Bungie just released that there will be no splitscreen in Destiny. However, they also said that if the community came together on a subject then they WILL listen. We need to band together, and show that we CARE about whether or not there is splitscreen.
I want to play with my friends and family. I don't want to spend $400+ just to please these major companies. Ever since Halo, I've loved split-screen. I couldn't STOP. 4-Player FPS was my DREAM, and now Bungie, my HERO, makes the one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen single player, I couldn't stand aside.
This is for the gamers who love splitscreen.
This is for the people who want to make their OWN choices, not the ones who'd rather have greedy gaming companies chose FOR them.
This is for the family.
This is for the friends.
This is for split-screen.
Please comment below why you do or don't want split-screen.
Also share this link all over the web. Twitter. Facebook. Bungie. With your help we can bring split-screen back to Destiny.
(EDIT #2) The change.org petition was made by someone else.
http://www.change.org/petitions/destiny-add-split-screen-co-op
(EDIT) Also everyone. Be nice and respectful of others. Keep it clean out there, I don't want this to be reduced to a shouting match. Keep the peace.
I hope you're listening Deej.
(EDIT)
Guys, lets think for a moment.
People talk about consoles not being able to handle splitscreen and single player experiences being ruined because adding splitscreen would reduce single player graphics.
If this was true, wouldn't Bungie have just said that in their explanation of why splitscreen wasn't in Destiny?
Think about it.
If consoles didn't have the power, wouldn't Bungie have just said that for their reason why Destiny didn't have splitscreen?
If single player graphics were decreased, wouldn't Bungie have just said that for their reason why Destiny didn't have splitscreen?
But Bungie DIDN'T.
Their silence speaks for itself.
None of the above is TRUE, because if it WAS Bungie would have just SAID SO as their excuse for no splitscreen!
Think about it! If it was TRUE they would have just used it as their excuse!
However they DIDN'T.
Which means only one thing:
IT ISN'T TRUE.
They never mentioned it! They said nothing about console power or single player graphics!
So the REASON WHY it wasn't mentioned is because it SIMPLY ISN'T TRUE!
Consoles CAN handle it!
Singe player graphics AREN'T affected!
And Bungie doesn't want us to know!
They only technicalities they went into were "rendering" and "tethering", however, they also never said that splitscreen WASN'T possible!
They speak of rendering and tethering, but never said that it WASN'T possible!
Cmon people! Look at it! Splitscreen IS possible, and we need to speak up!
Btw MMO's can have splitscreen.

Options are always nice.

Bungie please! My friends wants to play Destiny too!

I don't understand why it's so important to have split-screen for a game like this. I can understand games like Diablo III, or arcade titles, but ultimately I feel a game with graphical content such as this deserves the biggest gaming screen space possible. Plus, as it's been mentioned, working around account services on one screen would be a nightmare - PSN, Xbox Live, etc.
-
Simple answer: Why not?
-
can't, processing demands aren't there with next gen consoles. And it would have nothing to do with first person experience, but it wouldn't be able to combine w/ people playing solo and people playing multi
-
My TV is like 22" and the thought of split screen on it makes me laugh. I don't share my console with anyone so I have no need for it. Although, some share their consoles with a spouse, girlfriend, etc; I don't see a problem with split screen existing in Destiny.
-
No. Why would you want a duel screen for a MMORPG type of game? I mean, that's just nonsense. This isn't a FPS like Halo, it's an entirely different sort of FPS. Do not lump it in with CoD/Halo/Etc. Just stop it.
-
. Just No.... hell No to this !!!!! .
-
Guests would be cool. I split-screened the shit out of borderlands. They could just have a little side car on your ship when you're in orbit.
-
It's split screen
-
23 more to go
-
It might be possible but we are in the internet age where we don't need split screen.
-
35 more to go if you want split screen in dying light go here
-
Its not that it is not possible to split screen, but the amount of extra data going through the system for a second player would make it much less the experience they likely want it to be. I don't care for splitscreen play anyway, especially when someone on my team is splitting, as they often do not see things well and do a crap job at playing. I'm not saying everyone who splitscreen's is bad, I am saying they tend to do the worst. I honestly don't care one way or another really as I will have no use of it, but I would vote no on it simply due to the bad outwaying the good in my mind.

Edited by FenHarel: 9/7/2014 4:47:31 AMNo, no. no.... no Okay so... This thing keeps coming up, and I feel the need to beat it over the head with a rather large stick. I'm going to attempt to make a few points that will hopefully discourage people from saying "OMG I WANT DAT SPLIT SCREEEN D: " 1, This game requires a connection to your GT/PSN ID, and then through that, accesses your own personal account on the Destiny server. You'd essentially have to be multiclienting Destiny in order to do this, and that would probably cause your console to promptly burst into flames. Some may think "WELL WHAT IF I USE CHARACTERS ON DAH SAME ACCOUNT!?" Sure, maybe that COULD work... but... 2. Destiny is split into multiple different lobbies/bubbles, these bubbles are all throughout the regions that are seamlessly tied together, if split screening was a thing, this could NOT BE POSSIBLE. It would not be able to work the same as if you were just in a fireteam with someone, your console is connected to whatever bubble you are in, I'm almost positive it would be impossible for it to connect to multiple at the same time. Simple as that. Which would completely ruin what Bungie has built for us so far. 3. The loot you receive is your own personal loot, if Destiny had split screening, it'd either end up overworking itself by giving two different streams of loot to the same console, or, you'd end up with shared loot, and get useless junk for other classes, effectively destroying, yet again, what Bungie has built for us. Those are the three most prevalent reasons I can think of, and I am damn sure there's plenty more. Stahp

MMOs don't usually have splitscreen... :P

1080p 60fps splitscreen PICK ONE!!!
-
This is still a thing? Stop it.

Edited by Deep Winter 7: 9/2/2014 9:08:31 PMNot possible with the hardware available on Playstations and Xboxes. You may as well be begging for 60 FPS. Bungie barely managed to eek out 1080p on the Xbox One, and were only able to accomplish said feat by working with Microsoft engineers and disabling the processing power allocated to the Kinect. MMO's run on PC's, which can push more power through more hardware. Consoles are fixed in terms of upgrades; developers must work around this. You're asking to render a shared-world experience twice on the same limited hardware. Your fantasy world amuses me.

I'm a split screen guy myself. Mostly because I want to play with my kids when they've earned their free time. Destiny seems like a game that would be great to use as an incentive to complete tasks on time. Thumbs up for Destiny.
-
Split screen would be awesome, but I understand that Destiny is built to run online and that split screen is an offline feature.
-
I don't know much about the technical side of things but I know that if there is no split screen co-op that I won't be buying Destiny. To those who think Bungie will make more money by not incorporating split screen and forcing people to buy multiple TVs/Consoles/Games, I disagree. I think there is a very large market, like myself, who share a living room with other people where single-player games are not much of an option. I think they would really expand the player base by tapping into the split screen market and making Destiny into a social game (both online and in-person). For myself, buying another set of equipment is out of the question and no one likes to sit and watch someone else play a game. With split screen, they'd gain at least a few customers from my apartment who would put some good hours on the game. Just my point of view. Please add split screen, even if it costs me a couple dollars in DLC.

Unecessary, imho.

Absolutely YES! YES YES YES!
