What I'm asking is
When will developers stop making games for these last gen consoles?
Or
When will gaming reach the point where last gen can't handle it anymore?
The PS3 and Xbox 360 were the first consoles to implement large scale online gaming. What I'll happen when it becomes obsolete?
I think that there will be no more last gen console games by 2020
What do you guys think?

I love my PS3, it's got a great library of games that are sitting on my shelf, but I won't buy anything else for it. I'm all for a great game being more than graphics, but I should be able to get all the gameplay of last gen, plus all the visuals of the current gen at once. I have two remastered games and both look pretty dated, even with realistic shadows and high res textures. So, when I take a step back, those older games takes some getting used to. So yes, I hope they devote more to next/current gen systems in the near future. I also hope they can sink as much effort into content as they currently are sinking into visuals. There are so many pretty, but lackluster games on the new consoles.

I don't think any time soon. Sony and Microsoft will keep supporting the older consoles as long as they keep making money. When the big consoles say "it's ok, you don't have to spend 350$ to buy the new system to play our new games." People are not going to spend that money.

Just because it's obsolete doesn't mean I'll stop playing it

Hopefully soon....

It's 2015. Xbox one has been released. Xbox 360, even though it's last gen, hold strong. In my opinion is Xbox 360 is too good to be outshined. The community in it is to established and a lot of people still play it.
2015 NECROBUMP!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Depends on where the money's at. If the last gen suddenly becomes unprofitable, they'll stop making games for it. Gaming is a business.
-
I want to say 2016. Alot of games being released are PC/Current Gen only, and the only games really being released on 360/PS3 are universal shooters like CoD and Battlefield.

By 2016, but I'd rather it be by the end of the year tbh
When will developers stop making games for these last gen consoles?
Hopefully as soon as possible.
When will gaming reach the point where last gen can't handle it anymore?
When people stop settling for more of the same.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 were the first consoles to implement large scale online gaming.
This is not true, a single counter example is the original Xbox. Xbox Live existed before the Xbox 360.
What I'll happen when it becomes obsolete?
The same thing that happened to Halo 2, the service will be killed once it is no longer profitable.

Hopefully they will be obsolete soon so developers can focus on current gen hardware and stop wasting resources on last gen ports
-
Hopefully soon. I hate to see games with so much potential held back due to the fact that they're developed for last gen as well f.e. Destiny.
-
I would say next-gen "officially" starts around Holiday 2015. Given Halo 5, and the fact that plenty of games have already been delayed till then.
-
they've been obsolete for years
-
I've heard another 5 to 6 years for both ps3 and Xbox 360 so that would be about 2019 or 2020
-
-
They already said 2017
-
Sony will probably support the PS3 for another 6 or so years. I don't know about MS tho.
-
November 2015.
-
2020? The hell? I wouldn't hold my breath for any last gen system games after the end of this year.
-
Maybe 2018, i haven't seen a real next gen game so i hope they release one soon.
-
Based on what we've seen so far. Never.

Edited by burritosenior: 6/7/2014 7:14:32 PMMicrosoft said they plan on making producing for the 360 for another three years. Edit: Well, that was in September so we're closer to two now.

I think 2015 or 2016 we will start to see them fizzle out. Then after that in 2016 or 2017 GameStop will stop taking trade-ins for them, which usually is the final nail in the coffin for gaming consoles these days.
