I don't think Destiny is going to be like anything we've ever seen.

Borderlands doesn't have any sort of public space, competitive multiplayer, and the loot system is very different. The only real similarities are that it is set in another time where people can freely roam together or alone and it is in first person

Also strikes and raids. Borderlands has raids but they are...... like really stupid since everyone just mods everything. But I would not call competitive multiplayer a minor adjustment
