Yeah. This one now.
Whilst PoA is obviously heavily iconic, and has surprisingly good design for a level built entirely of corridors, I'm vouching for Winter Contingency; I knew straight off the bat with this level that Reach's Campaign would be a stonker for gameplay and scale, and it generally was. Really enjoyable homage to Halo (CE's second level), looked beautiful too.
Honourable mentions for Cairo Station's zero-G sections and Dawn's brilliant climax and ending.

Mombassa. I love just booting up a game and just surviving in the streets for a bit. Nice way to pass tine

Pillar of Autumn (CE): I like the whole thing where that level puts in motion the entire events of the game. The Covenant attacks and boards it which results in you escaping the ship to go to the ring and Keys lands the Autumn on it. Then we know what happens after that level. Now other Halo game has a first level which sets in motion the events of the game. The Pillar of Autumn is the only first level that has a cause and effect factor to it. I also like the whole thing where your ship gets boarded and you have to fight your way out thing about it.

I love Mombasa Streets.

Sierra 117

1 ReplyWould be Winter Contingency but no one giving a shit about the covenant on Reach bumps it down a bit

Finally ODST is winning at something. Halo ODST had the best first mission IMO next comes Winter Contingency.

1 ReplyWe gave then back the bomb in Cairo station.

The atmosphere in Mombasa Streets is unparalleled.

I liked Dawn. In media res + plot hook = an actual good first mission. I was surprised, since most of the time Halo's campaigns are awful, and I only play them to get the legendary completion status.
-
Winter Contingency, it had a nice grand scope
-
4 RepliesI'm going to go with Winter Contingency. I just loved the map and especially the vistas it had and the ride in the Falcon, even though it wasn't anything special really. Plus, awesome cutscene. Close second is Sierra 117. I adore that level.

Mombassa streets.

Obviously Pillar of Autumn. No contest.
-
I rather loved the atmospheric and sandbox design of Mombasa Streets!
-
Mombasa Streets no question.
-
Mombasa Streets because of the atmosphere of the game
-
1. Cairo Station 2. Pillar of Autumn 3. Sierra 117
-
I can't say why, but Sierra 117 was probably my favorite. Maybe it's just because Halo 3 was my favorite Halo game. When you put them all in a lineup like that, though, those are just terrific opening levels, all of them.
-
The POA is just so iconic. Have to go with that.
-
Mombasa Streets > all It's easily the most atmospheric, varied, immersive and mysterious of the lot and was really well constructed. The only downsides to it IMO are the occasionally repetitive areas and lack of more things to find.
-
Cairo Station easily.
-
I dunno, I've just become so accustomed to speedrunning the sh1t out of PoA... But I'm gonna say Mombasa Streets, purely from an atmospheric point of view. In terms of gameplay and pure nostalgia, PoA. And in terms of glitches, well, it doesn't really get much better than Cairo Station.

1. Cairo Station 2. Sierra 117 3. Pillar of Autumn

Pillar of Autumn was an awesome level to me. Although all of them were amazing in thier own way. Perhaps Pillar of Autumn stands out because that was my first Halo expirience.
