Post One Of Your Favorite Gaming Moments

(Skip to 3:46) I have to say that the ODST drop was definitely one of my favorites because I always wanted to see what an ODST drop was like in first person, and let me tell you that I was not disappointed. Anyways, post a favorite gaming moment and feel free to include more than one.

  • It's between the introduction to the Flood in Halo: CE and the ODST drop.

    • That's a tough one, but I'd have to say Bioshock Infinite. Every moment I had playing that game was memorable. The whole story is extremely good, in my opinion. Booker and Elizabeth are both very dynamic characters who you learn more about as you play, and the ending was very...well, I'll leave that up to everyone else to decide.

My favorite gaming moment involves a sniper duel with the old man pictured above. Yes, I'm talking about the boss fight in MGS3 with The End. The boss fight itself is great, and probably one of the greatest boss fights of all time. Basically, for those who don't know, the boss fight is a sniper duel that spans multiple areas. The End can be hiding in one of several vantage points in each area, and you have to track him down and get him before he gets you. His rifle fires tranquilizers, which rapidly deplete your stamina. And once your stamina is gone, it's not a game over; you get carried back to a jail quite a ways back, and you have to escape and make your way all the way back just so you can try battling the geezer again. It's as much a test of endurance and wits as it is a test of sniping skill. Anyway, my favorite moment and what really cemented that boss fight as my all-time favorite went like this: I was hiding in some grass, with my sniper rifle ready (When you have the sniper rifle equipped, you're forced into first-person view). The battle had been going on for quite awhile. My stamina was low, but I didn't want to hunt for food because I was too afraid The End would spot me and shoot at me; it happened before I went into hiding (You see him shoot you from his POV, which is awesome). I must have been in the grass for five minutes, surveying his possible location with my sniper rifle. All of a sudden, I hear him talking, and I think to myself, "Wow, he sounds like he's really close by." So, I unequipped the sniper rifle, and the first thing I see is The End standing right behind me. Naturally, I was shocked that he had snuck up on me, and as soon as I tried to move, he shot me in the head with a tranquilizer dart. I was knocked out, carried all the way back to a prison cell. I escaped, and made the trek all the way back to The End, to have another shot at him. I wasn't even angry when it happened. The fact that he snuck up on me was more impressive than infuriating. That moment left such an impression on me, that no other boss fight ever could possibly surpass. It's just simply the greatest boss fight of all time.

      • One of the more recent ones was in Alan Wake. I was minding my own business when the spirits decided to start raining trains. Well, one of them fell a hair's width in front of my character spooking me initially, but I felt I was safe. Then the train started to roll (I was on a hill). Instant adrenaline rush.

      • Well, a couple.... 1.) Deus Ex: Human Revolution- first time I stabbed someone with my elbow-mounted, spring loaded arm katanas. 2.) Fallout 3- First time I saw Washington D.C., and the Washington Monument with a huge chunk out of the side. 3.) Mass Effect 2- The assault on the Collector Base- when you fly up to the collector base, and get shot at, I had bought all of the Upgrades, so the crew were all saying things along the lines of 'Good thing we got the extra armour!' Etc.

        • Oh god. Far too many to remember every one. I'll just recall the tops. Halo 3: Annual, lagging horrendously, still pulled it off. Half-Life: entering the Nihilanth's chamber at 1:45AM. 'FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN.' My gods. Red Dead Redemption: standing atop Hennigan's Stead, Cholla Springs spreading before me. It's stunning, and all playable. BioShock Infinite: the entire introduction, up to the raffle, is mesmerising, one of the finest sequences in gaming history. BioShock 2: good ending has such a sweet tune to it.

        • Back in Halo 3, my friends and I wanted to try to blow the Elephant off the map, so we pilled explosives around it, like you normally soul I flip it, but also put some inside it to see what would happen. When we set it off, it went flying up to the high limit, an the explosives inside it kept respawning, keeping it hovering in the air, flying from corner to corner. It stayed in the air for at least a half hour before it finally came back down.

          • When I played the Lonesome Road DLC for Fallout New Vegas I was being chased by a Deathclaw on the High Road, I had close to no health left and my guns weren't strong enough. So I shot my flare gun at it (It scares deathclaws away for 10 seconds) and I planted 5 pieces of C4 on the ground. I saw that son of a bitch circle back around a truck and he walked right over my little trap and I wasn't sure if he was on it, but I clicked anyway. It blew him to high hell and he landed on an opposite highway missing both of his legs. He fell to his death if there was any life left in him because he fell a good 300 feet after he fell off that highway into a group of tunnelers.

          • I got one of those rare spawns in Halo 3, where you respawn 2 feet in front of a teammate right when they shoot a sniper rifle and they end up betraying you. That doesn't happen very often, as far as I know. Also, using that glitch to find and catch Mew in Pokemon Red/Blue.

            • Fighting the Four Kings in Dark Souls. You travel down this hella long staircase for about a minute, and then it just ends. You bring out a light, and the darkness doesn't even move, your light does nothing. Assuming you have a certain ring, I put it on, and walked off the staircase, and fell into the darkness. You fall for what seems like a long ass drop, and then land. Ass soon as you hit the ground, THIS ^ plays. I go, "What in the flaming hell did I just walk into?"

            • So...many....choices. Halo has had some good moments. When I had a streak of nukes in MW2. Anything with good teamplay, like Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising - shit, that got intense at times.

                • Way too many to count. - ODST's drop sequence. - Reveal of the Gravemind. - Didact's awakening. - Mass Effect 2 suicide mission. - Mordin's sacrifice in ME3. - Every scene with Sovereign in ME1. - Discovering you're Revan. - The whole introduction to Rapture sequence in Bioshock's opening 5-10 minutes. - "A man chooses, a slave obeys... Kill!" - Modern Warfare nuke scene. - Gears of War 2's ending (I actually liked it...) - Portal 2 ending. These are what come to mind off the top of my head.

In a moment, I will light the holy rings and all who believe will be saved!" "Do not shoot, but listen! Let me lead you safely to our foe. Only you can halt what he has set in motion." *MFW Flood are your allies* "Can you see Arbiter? Our moment of salvation is at hand." "Lies for the weak, beacons for the deluded!" "I will have my revenge, on a prophet, by my blade!" I tread the path, I shall become a god!" "You will be food, nothing more!" "No! I am Truth, the voice of the Covenant!" • I was playing Halo 3 on High Ground. Me and someone else decided to get on a Mongoose, him as the driver and I as the passenger. I was carrying a Carbine. We drove out of the gate, down the hill, when lo and behold, one of the Reds threw a frag grenade directly in front of us. But the explosion didn't knock us over; we went flying through the air and me, being dizzy, began randomly firing my Carbine at a Red who was behind us. I managed to score a headshot... while the Mongoose was completely upside down. To this day, this is one of my proudest video game moments.
