I have stopped watching porn for a little, experiencing withdrawal effects

Well, I don't know if it's actually withdrawal, but I have been off for like a week and a half. I have been experiencing extreme loneliness and depression, which is normal if you watch porn on a consistent basis and suddenly stop. I only watched it once every 2-3 days though. I don't know if that's considered a minor addiction or whatnot. Right now I feel fine, but these symptoms are very inconsistent. TL;DR Ever feel depression or loneliness after having stopped watching porn?

    • Did you know that there was a study conducted that showed that when guys watch porn they observed that the brain got stimulated the same way it does when people are addicted to drugs and alcohol.

The atmosphere in this thread is too serious for me not to post. As my cousin said, your body may actually be producing less of the chemicals it was prior to your stop. If you find other ways to produce those chemicals (exercise) or to occupy that time (other activities), the withdrawal will go smoother and you'll feel less of the side effects. It'd be good to find something more productive regardless. Imagine how much time you could have spent elsewhere if you tally it up at the end of each month. This is just a general pointer for the thread. It's perfectly normal by the way, though I wouldn't say you're addicted from what you've posted.

      • well, its probably because your brain was producing dopamine or something when you fapped because you found it pleasurable. Without the stimulus, less hormones and chemicals are being released in to the body, causing you to feel depressed. So yeah, technically it is withdrawal. I haven't ever experienced what you described, but then again, I'm pretty sure the emotion controlling part of my brain is broken anyway, because I don't feel much of anything. but yeah, just find something to replace the fapping as a stimulus and you'll be fine.

        • Same. I only masturbate on weekends when I go home (can't when you live with five roommates). So, yeah I know that feel. And when I do fap, I have to do it two times in a row because I just can't be satisfied doing it once. It's about the only thing that makes me feel good.

          • Dude, go outside. The world is just like Skyrim, I promise, adventurous and fun. In all seriousness, if you're really getting sexually frustrated, then go outside and meet a girl or something. You shouldn't be getting depression symptoms for going 2-3 days without porn.
