Plus, who said MC even looks down his sights? I mean it is 500 yrs. in the future. Maybe he doesn't need to look down his sights. It'd be kinda hard to look down your sights with a big ass helmet on. That, or the guns would have huge sights on them so the MC could use them. Which would look dumb. And if you really want to get technical, all FPS's aren't true to the real thing.
