short answer to the OP openning question, halo palyers are predominantly american, many americans think that other people should only speak english. i know i'm stepping on toes here, but that is the gospel freaking truth. i live in hawaii and there are a ton of different cultures and languages here, and one of the most repetitive debates i get in with people, almost all american military, is that if people live here they should only speak english. i understand that they should learn english, but having a problem with speaking their native language? that's just straight ignorant. honestly if you can speak another language and you have friends that do the same, that is freaking strategy. if people yell at you for it then mute then and be on your way, it isn't worth the frustration.
