I don’t mean to be a downer (hell, I barely write on here myself), but 17% of the studio workforce was fired. That’s not even including the 100 laid off past October with no severance pay bonus. Not a good sign that things will be “just OK” like Pete Parsons claims in his recent article.
I know that the two remaining Episodes are already promised to come out (or else people will be clamoring for refunds and Sony WILL take immediate action). But after that? Who knows. We STILL don’t know what their future plans are after Episode 3 and at the rate Bungie is going currently, the company itself could become bankrupt in that time. 🤷🏿♂️
My heart goes out to those affected and hope that they will get new opportunities to show off their wasted talents elsewhere. And to Pete, I hope you get a healthy piece of -blam!- you pie. 🥧 🖕🏿

Whatever that is.

1 ReplyCertainly looking like that

There's some recent rumors going around that it might actually start to feel like a game again and less like the department of social services.

3 RepliesYup. https://destinybulletin.com/news/destiny-2-content-packs-expansions/

Maybe!! I'm not sure about what is going on in reality; news articles/press reports can be misleading, or provide bias. I'm also not sure how much job security lies within game development... certainly more towards the live service industry!! Could it be inevitable that roles will cease when a project comes to an end?? If that's not the case, then it is a very sad state of affairs! Personal thought... d3 has never felt like it would happen. What would have been d3 ended up in d2 as beyond light, with d2 being vaulted. The latest season content seems like a wrap up, and year 11 is very much an unknown!! Again, personal thought is that d2 would undertake a cross of infinite forest and no man's sky to establish a general go off and do stuff if players want to keep playing type thing.

2 RepliesEdited by Zodleon: 8/1/2024 2:48:56 AMUnlikely, if what they said is to be believed a lot of those layoffs were targeted at ppl working on other nascent projects so they could cut the costs out of those, and focus on marathon, a game to our knowledge they likely see as too far along to drop, and destiny their consistent cash cow. Even taking the job cuts, which does suck, into account they are still a fairly large studio, and we might actually see more of a focus on destiny content and quality if they aren't dividing their attention on so many side projects. This is assuming that we believe what they said and take it in an optimistic light. I don't see them feasibly being able to untangle themselves from the destiny ip.

8 RepliesPersonally, I hope so.

1 ReplyI think they are just going to unset all the previous content, write some paperthin 'story' and call it a day. Just enough to keep the lights on for the diehards.
