I just want to know what everyone’s opinion is on how to make the playlist better. Let’s keep it classy folks, constructive ideas would be great.
My personal idea is to remove zone control as the mode and bring it back to elimination. Why? I believe zone control forces more bubble titans and well locks, and this game mode is suited for them specifically.
I also think the super tier system is a poor idea and needs to be reverted. The reason for that is because we are all going to try to play the class that gives us the biggest advantage. Supers can change the dynamic of a round, and forcing tier systems makes certain classes more desirable. Like, I’ve been running burning maul just so I can get a super if we’re 4-4. How many bubble titans do you think we’ll see in survival?
When everyone predictably got their supers at similar times, at least there was a chance to counter a super with a super. Now, you’re most likely seeing well/bubble first, blade barrage/squall, and then everything else follows suit. Base supers off kills and intellect stats. It just makes more sense to me
What do you all think?

Edited by Chunk: 3/21/2024 1:49:38 PMNo duos.. keep everything else as it is now. Regardless what bungie says removing duos would not harm the mode at all, solo population would remain the same pop and at the very best 3s pop would go up Also persistence card would not set you back at all, 7 wins, losses don't matter picking this card automatically means you cannot go to the lighthouse even if you are 7 and 0, no farming at 7 wins, that's the trade off.. the only way to flaw this card is if you quit or unfortunately are kicked and cannot rejoin.
-
Revert it to its Season 10 self, Card-based CBMM, 3-man-lfg-only, no solos/duos, a mode for the best rewarding good plays. Make the mode the old Trials mode, no capture point.
-
Return Trials to what it used to be — the PvP endgame tournament for the best players. Card based matchmaking, teams only, no double mercies or hand outs. Promote Comp as the PvP endgame league for all abilities. That’s what it’s designed for, but it needs loot equivalent to Trials and a tiered rewards system that covers every rank.
-
Delete it. Hasn't been good in years. Focus more on comp.
-
An entirely separate PvP-centric game, with any number of modes and matchmaking a player could want. Eliminates the need for PvE'ers to wander into PvP for weapons and fouling up matches for PvP mains as well as eliminating any nerfs bleeding over into PvE. Plus, the devs wouldn't be stretched between 2 modes in the game, allowing them to focus on improving one or the other.
-
Delete it. Boom, fixed.
-
Bring back flawless pool to let it be balanced
-
Remove titans! Yeah, I said it!
-
I would honestly try a version where there are no supers. All abilities are the same but the super bar just doesn’t increase.
-
Entering Trials should be locked to adept+ players. Pve weapons should be removed and put in Crucible playlist. Pve mains will still have to play pvp for them, but not Trials. They will learn pvp, before entering Trials, or never play at all if they suck. Put the best pvp weapons in Trials, but ONLY for playing Trials, to prevent balance issues. Trials should be engame pvp, but currently it is a noob farm. This will put it where it belongs.
-
Bring back Freelance or at least Flawless Pool. Slaughter and burn Trials Dominion, bring back Elimination. Make a new Trials card that just requires 7 wins, and any losses don’t flaw your card. Make each win drop at least an Enhancement Prism, with a 50% chance to drop the weekly Trials weapon, non-Adept of course.
-
Stop trying to make it accessible for everyone and lean in to it being an endgame pvp mode for people who are good at pvp. "This will make it about as sweaty as possible" - good, it's an endgame pvp mode. "Only the top players will have fun" - good, it's an endgame pvp mode. "Low skill players will miss out on loot they don't have the skill to obtain" - Welcome to endgame content. Hopefully the point is obvious now. I'm unbothered by slightly longer queue times. I don't care if only X% of players end up with the loot. Adepts are marginally better than regular guns anyways, and you're about to be able to enhance the perks on so much crap it's not even going to matter. And there's SO many more playlists and modes available to go have dumb fun in, let Trials be the endgame sweatfest for top tier players that it's supposed to be.
-
Trials has to keep player population high or it immediately suffers and verges on abandonment. I doubt Bungie can fix their matchmaking due to population numbers so the game mode has to be the most generous of the endgame activities. We see the attempt being made with the Passage of Persistence but it’s wildly flawed in its execution. Most direct fix is make the card simply a 7 win card that has no penalty for loses. Keep the Lighthouse behind a true Flawless card but give players the Adept loot; give them a direct route to getting that loot. The convoluted lose-a-win doesn’t move the needle to keep players playing; it frustrates, it confuses, it turns it into a Passage of Fodder. If a portion high-skilled players disagree that giving Adepts as rewards to getting 7 wins is a needed driver for the population then the concept of the Lighthouse and its cosmetics and Mods are a lie. Destiny (Bungie) hemorrhages players and it’s affecting their potential independence and they need every reason to get people to play and play as many possible activities in the game.

This is the easiest thing to fix. First of all SBMM wins 1-5. If they use ELO instead of lifetime or last few season KD np. But when players look at open td before or after a game they don’t want to see .8,.9,.4 vs 1.5,1.8,2.1 in a 6 solo game. In ganes 6/7 connection match on other teams or players on those 2 games. Make sure everyone has the same on the line. There is no perfect system but this is the closest to fair it can be. The complaint will always be from the top 1 percent. Who won’t to curb stomp 95 percent of the time. And I get that. Like why do they have to play other equally skilled players to make it? Well bc the alternative is worse for the other 99 percent. Lastly bring back the flawless pool. Let the weaker players try again on Sunday and Monday to try to get there in an easier pool. It still is never easy believe me. But those 2 things would bring players back. The one thing I can guarantee you is this. Lots and lots of players load in to try. Get obliterated in 2/3 games and leave for the weekend. I’ve done it myself on several occasions. To recap there is no perfect solution but balance the matchmaking as much as possible and put the flawless pool back in and you will increase the player base 10 fold. And that is the only thing that will improve it. A vast player base.
-
Select All. Cut. Empty Recycle Bin.
-
1. Bring back solo trials 2. Bring back flawless pool. But only on Monday. That way people who haven’t made it only have one day to try and get to light house. 3. Keep connection based matchmaking but even the teams out better. 4. Make wins and positive kd after a match drop a weapon every time. 5. Take heavy away and make special more scares so it’s all about primary fight and accuracy

IMO: would make it a combo of match making. Thinking along the lines of the “competitive “ playlist. Use different brackets, to make teams and for the opponent as well. They could use the Outlier Protection mechanism as well, along with the average of your a duo or trio team. You get paired with people in your same bracket, with -1 to +1 of your bracket, if finding players is hard. You move up a bracket, you get an adept weapon. You move up a Trials level, you get engram. You get 3 engrams, you can focus an adept weapon, or focus any non-adept for 1 engram. You reset your Trials rank, you get 3 adept weapons or maybe one master-worked adept weapon, along with any normal rewards. If you continue to move up in ranks/ or play enough to stay in that rank, you get more rewards. Basically put actual good loot into a looter-shooter. Make it rewarding for those who play. Give players who are new or more casual a reason to play. Those who are of higher skill, get even more loot, and will get more engrams to focus. With this they will be likely to get the rolls they want in gear or weapons.

Let Sony just completely take over bungie, its doesnt matter what anyone says how they would fix it, Bungie doesn't have the ability to do it. They have management that doesn't know how to run a company and devs that say making content is too hard.

Edited by Avory: 3/18/2024 11:42:15 PMTo fix trials the options are remove duo Que make it eiether only solo or only trio or make it only trio well that’s to fix mm at least Special ammo changes need some tuning and have caused several issues Auto meta is horrible and certain buffs and nerfs need to be reverted for abilities and weapons Apart from that most things are fine

Aside from the general change I’d like for pvp as a whole, (removing heavy ammo) reworking or getting rid of the dominion would be nice. Dominion rework proposal: Capturing the zone grants the team a point, but the round doesn’t end. The opposing team can still earn a point if they actually win the round. If the team who captures the zone also wins the 3v3, they won’t get an additional point, since they already captured the zone. This makes the dominion more of a “safety net” in case you lose the round, and less of a be-all-end-all. Aside from that, Trials itself is actually pretty great right now. The auto rifle meta sucks, but that isn’t Trials’s fault. It was actually pretty fun running Trials with my friend and not feeling actively punished for it via the matchmaking.
-
I did already I accept I like the gear but therea other things I enjoy my time on more so I don't play trials
-
Trials mayhem, just straight chaos. Rounds we prob be one sided but they would be quick.
-
Make it pay to win.
-
Make an eververse transaction time machine that reverts you back to before potatoes took over bungie?
-
I would remove PvP management and hire high level developers that can bring health and balance to the mode. What they have been and are currently doing is not working. Time to change things up.
-
To be honest I do not think you can, removing supers would help in gun gameplay and still allow some basic abilities but things like wells and shields are still far stronger than the mostly useless hunter dive that half works, titans and warlocks just have better abilities and exotics that buff those abilities in some manner unlike hunter where you get extra dodges, or turn invisible.. which does nothing anyways. Ontop of that the sliding and AA values need to be removed, so many players would end up sucking -blam!- because they rely upon AA values of the game more than anything, yes consoles can turn it off but the guns have inherent values so it doesn't matter, some guns have far better AA than others and work better using a controller that can abuse it or a mouse and keyboard that abuses it. There's so many changes the game needs that it's not really fixable without also moving game engines away from a dead game engine that was great back in the day for halo..
