Lame and wasteful death
RE: TWAB, Mara, Zavala, and Mark’s boyfriend
The degree of recognizing Amanda’s sacrifice is disproportionate to the value added. Her death was wasteful and inconsequential to the mission. Yet the key players involved, to include our woke former active duty aircraft mechanic, seem to think her death was beneficial to humanity.
Sorry but it was simply unnecessary to kill off a background character and then soapbox her actions as what humanity needs. And for our TWAB author to gloss over her death with a requiem of self-indulgent platitudes, making it about he/her vice the character is simply narcissistic and egotistical.
Moreover, the depth of lament over Amanda’s death, ostensibly a collection of 1s and 0s, eclipses the lament over the loss of a real human in Destiny via a vis Lance Reddick. We get cut scenes and steps in a quest to be reminded of Amanda’s loss. But gdammit, the best Destiny can do is have a pop up when I log in to briefly mention Lance’s passing? Not even a effing statue or plaque? I mean, -blam!- on me, Cayde gets one!
Ban me for chastising the Destiny crew. Downvote me to the abyss. IDGAF. The Destiny crew are the most reprehensible people in video gaming today. I hope the company tanks and I hope they all end up -blam!- and insane.

2 RepliesDont bring up Lance in a attempt to discredit Bungie, He died suddenly, nobody knew this was going to happen. Things relating to him are clearly complex atm. And expecting Bungie to make a cutscene or something more in such short notice is just insane.

1 ReplyAmanda’s death was nothing but a prop to attempt to drive home the impact and loss from the Witness’ invasion. However, it was rushed, easily foreseen, and all-around lacking any kind of impact. It hurt more seeing the original Guardian trio get wiped by the Witness in the opening cutscene. Also, Amanda has been the most annoying character in the series, second only to Cayde, and she took his spot as most annoying when he died. So not only was her death not impactful, but I’m personally glad she’s gone. Next is Hawthorne. Her bird can stay, though.

Lance Reddick [i]unexpectedly[/i] passed some sixteen days ago; there simply hasn’t been enough time for the devs to make anything of actual substance for the game in response. If you expect the devs to honor Lance in game you should want them to take their time and put together something nice rather than hastily slap together whatever they can come up with in the space of two weeks. (΄◉◞౪◟◉｀)

Cayde and Amanda are characters in game. Their deaths are part of game lore. Lance is not. Zavala is still alive. He doesn't need a in game plaque.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Amanda’s death was just to put Crow into a dark path. Oh and to have Zavala doubt the Traveler and Light even more. Either way, her death feels like a huge nothing burger, especially if a ghost revives her later.

I was annoyed at all the whining from the cast about Amanda's death. Humanity has been waging a war for survival (in-game) for over a century, probably several centuries. Death is not a new concept nor should it be such a shock. We literally did survive a mass final death event for Guardians a few years ago thanks to Ghaul where the City itself was captured. I wanted to take everyone who was moping about Amada and tell them that such whining was an insult to her sacrifice. Kids are so soft. Bands who have original musicians die find a replacement and keep going. I wouldn’t mind another voice actor for zavala. Stop overreacting with a death of someone you barely know personally.

1 ReplyYou do know that the story was written, developed, and voice acted well before Lance’s death right? Zavala isn’t dead in the game so a statue would be weird and out of place in the game’s setting.

2 RepliesYou do realize that Lance wasn't a character in the game, right? His passing was tragic, of course, but it wouldn't make a lot sense to put a statue of him in the game. What I would be in favor of is an emblem commemorating Lance.

Amanda death was planned and they knew about it ...and honestly with these battleground dialogue ...was a bit obvious Lance death shocked everyone ....it would have been way more disrespectful to him if they threw a quick emblem or already had something in game in case something happened ..... See how crazy you sound ?and how you are yourself being disrespectful? the in game message was a good way to tell the community that was still not aware and say a quick thank you to an iconic person Will they do more in the future ? Probably I keep seeing post about killing Zavala to not replace the voice actor and honestly you really think that's what he would have wanted ?

That is hardly constructive at all. I sincerely wish you left that part out and kept your criticism solely helpful and practical. 😩 If you are passionate about the game, and it sounds like you are, offer a more objective insight as to how the company could do better instead of wishing that something bad could happen to them.

I had no one to really be mad at and, with no rage to call upon and no target to funnel it towards, I’m unsure how to feel as though this was truly [i]the time[/i] for it to happen. I look forward to future content to see where it takes us and [i]if[/i] she really does come back as a guardian. Time will tell.

Only 2 characters I would mind dying in game, Zavala (rip Lance) and shaxx. The former unfortunately passed and I don't think there'll be anyone that'll be able to fill his shoes.

I like your thinking. But for me it's more a sign of lacking a relevant or engaging storyline. Which well might be the result of all LF presumably being put in as a fill-in. The "real" story progress coming next year. Though I'm not sure anymore whether this magnificent and brilliant end of light and dark saga can or will deliver on my (our?) expectations. In a given sense next year had to start in reverse order, 3 seasons and Final Shape DLC (the "Best") coming last. Anyway. Amanda never had a meaning to me. Expendable. Much ado about nothing.

7 RepliesAmanda was not a background character she has been here since D1, she was involved in taking down oryx with the modifications she did to our ship for cloaking, she was involved in taking down ghaul by being a pilot, helped countless people make their way to the last city, and was basically treated as a second child by zavala
