Too much grind with too many and too restrictive material caps that shouldn't exist.
First, you have to obtain 5 red-boxed weapons, then grind those out.
Then, you have to get the materials to craft the weapon
Then, you have to grind the weapon itself to level 16 for all perks + enhanced
Then, you have to grind for ascendant alloy if you want enhanced perks
The layers upon layers upon layers of grind turn me off and I'm done with this system already, not to mention how limited the weapon selection to craft is (yes, I know they're expanding it, but I still won't care about it).

Thats 4 a week, and you can buy red border season of the risen weapons cant you?

I see that. I feel that. I feel the same way. But I’ve called myself on my own bull$h!t. God roll weapon pursuit is a time intensive process. Even in targeted farms, people spend entire seasons seeking out a god roll. There is the occasional “luck on the first try” but that is few and far between. Crafting a god roll is supposed to take forever. The caps are there specifically so you can’t get it done in a few days. The last thing we want is an entire playerbase loaded up with nothing but god rolls. I’m not saying it couldn’t be tweaked. (I don’t disagree it’s a complete boring grind). But most of the premium perks don’t even give you that much of a bump and for most, exactly 7 people in the community would be able to maximize and use those premiums perks better than their base version. Do it casually and mess around when you have the resources… leave it alone when you don’t. It’s a great feature that just isn’t executed perfectly. But we’re not supposed to be able to craft the perfect roll we want (I would actually change limiting the weapons that are craftable - if it’s in the game as a new weapon it should be craftable) as quickly as we want. That’s just a bad idea.

It's a great feature for any shooter game that allows that. Bungie's implementation is simple bad. Did they themselves that we were supposed to experiement and find what works for ourselves? How are you gonna do that with all the added RNG and material caps? if a god rool supposed to take forever, what's exactly the point of crafting considering finding and god roll also takes forever. You cant really measure the time difference between them either.

The point isn’t that it isnt necessarily supposed to take appreciably less time. The point is that you’ll know for a fact that you can eventually get there. People searched for a god rolled spare rations for months upon months until the day it was sunset and never got it. If the entire process is random, it’s possible you never get it. And let’s not kid ourselves: it’s only the enhanced perks whose resources are limited. You could have a traditional god roll on any gun you wanted pretty much any day you wanted it. Had Bungie not tried to give us extra cool perks we’d never experienced before, few people would be complaining about crafting.

Even though Bungie said we should experiment by adding extra grind on top of extra grind with RNG layers. The entire process is not random, your RNG luck will increase if Bungie ups the drop rates. There was no point to make people grind for God roll for 3 months like crazy because the season will end and people will have less to no chance get that roll. If you were looking for a meh system to replace the bad one, then crafting is for you. If Bungie didn't try to give extra cool perks with same fund over and over again, they'd lose play time and and players. Let's not get confused, why Bungie does what Bungie does.

Tough order for me. I am already running on fumes. This hobby is for single folks with a ton of time. I may craft one and be done.
