I would recommend attempting a reboot. I myself had the same issues with freezing and both having the game crash to desktop and having to manually kill the process in task manager.
I have suspect it has something to do with the BattlEye install, which clears upon reboot. Unfortunately I don't have any crash codes from the game as of now.
After the reboot I have been running back to normal for the last 2 hours. Here's to hoping this clears some peoples issue up.
