Edited by ???: 9/17/2022 4:17:31 AMIntel CPU, 3090 RTX. Can't play for 10-30 minutes without crashing. Destiny 2 is unplayable long-term.

Hi folks, Apologies for adding to an old thread but I'm still getting frequent Destiny 2 crashes. Last night it crashed randomly 3 times. I've created another thread but its the exact same issue: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260179202?sort=0&page=0 I ran the following to get the first time this happened: $events = Get-WinEvent -FilterHashtable @{logname='application'; ProviderName='Application Error'} | where-object { $_.Message -like '*bad_module_info*' } | Sort-Object -Property TimeCreated $events[0] TimeCreated Id LevelDisplayName Message ----------- -- ---------------- ------- 28/08/2021 08:58:27 1000 Error Faulting application name: bad_module_info, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000... So the first time this occured was the 28 August for me. Which makes sense as I was off on holiday that week and didn't download the new update and Battle Eye install until the Friday of that week. Just wondering if a fix is forthcoming? Its very frustrating. I've 800 plus hours in D2 and thats the first time I've had problems. Didn't even buy the 30th Anniversary Edition. Whats the point if I can't play it. Cheers.

1 ReplySo I already posted a separate thread, but I can see that this is where everyone is posting. I'm getting the following error in Event Viewer:
Faulting application name: bad_module_info, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00007ff64aa9553c Faulting process id: 0x17c8 Faulting application start time: 0x01d7b795583efd22 Faulting application path: bad_module_info Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: 7866e95e-7470-48bd-ac14-10a812e45555 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:
I noticed a couple of people mentioning Samsung Magician - not using that. I do however have an 970 Evo Plus NVMe as my main drive and an 870 EVO (SATA SSD) where I've installed Destiny 2. I'm also running a 5900x and a 3080 - I've tried running both with no OC, no XMP, still the same error.

1 ReplyI'm a windows 10 user using an intel processor. I've not been able to play for 2 weeks (crashes every 5-10 minutes). I've just gone in to my BIOS settings and disabled "Intel Virtualization Technology" and I was able to play my first strike in a long time. Not ideal but I hope this works for you.

I'm SO glad I didn't pre-order "Witch Queen" I've been playing this game since Destiny 1 Beta first xbox, then PS, finally pc. I love it on pc, but now its totally unplayable. I have resorted to going to my old Xbox one, how sad is that. I want to pre-order Witch Queen, but I can't bring myself to do it, with the game at the state it is This is a huge problem for a lot of people including myself. The game crashes constantly now since we had to download the anti-cheat. I don't even play PVP

2 RepliesYeah crashing is nightmare, try that manually put-allow BEService_x64 in your firewall, find in game install folder battleye, quick guide is everywhere and run destiny2launcher.exe as admin from game folder, normal destiny2.exe wont run battleye what means crash, try it,i have no issue now
-
4 RepliesHey Guys - worked out the answer (well for me anyways)! I had to go into my Advanced Firewall settings and create a rule on the Inbound and Outbound to allow the BattleEye Application through. Once i did that i was able to play for nearly an hour and half with no issue compared to last night where i couldn't play 3 mins on PC before it crashed! Honestly try this, im hoping that this is the issue - that the inital install of BattleEye didnt make firewall rules, making the game crash.

2 RepliesEdited by LoyalOrange503: 8/30/2021 9:13:11 PMthere should be error codes within window's reliability centre, but it's not giving em any clue as to what could be causing it. I mean, it's definitely something within destiny 2 that's causing it, but the error code is not putting me any step closer to finding out, unfortunately.

Limited frame rate to 144 and set GPU power limit down to 100%. No more crashes. Set GPU power limit back to what it was before. Still no crashes.

1 ReplySame problem here... Tought it was something with my router, bc they just changed it today, but it is not

Edited by Marx: 8/30/2021 11:45:34 PMMine was working fine until reset today. Now, screen freezing and a windows box pops up stating: "Bad_module_info has stopped working" Edit: It could be a coincidence but after running destiny as an ' Administrator' and turning off 'game mode' in windows, I was able to game uninterrupted for 3 hours.

1 ReplyEdited by Phixion: 8/27/2021 8:34:16 AMEDIT: After 3hrs of fiddling changing the driver of my storage controller from the samsung to the AMD driver fixed it for me. https://i.chaot.dev/gwUK.png ---- I have the same issue since about 1 hrs now. I'm playing off a samsung pro 970 but I dont have magician installed. I haven't changed anything on my end the issue suddenly happened after playing for a couple of hours. And now it crashed once I launch into a destinyation (orbit and character select is fine)
Faulting application name: bad_module_info, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000409 Fault offset: 0x00007fff816a23ef Faulting process id: 0x2448 Faulting application start time: 0x01d79ad52736d324 Faulting application path: bad_module_info Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: ace86f81-8766-46c0-a968-778547680eaf Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:
Just built a rig with a 3090 and a Ryzen 5950. Crashing non stop today. Was getting brief black screens and now full screen freezes to desktop with no error code. Event Viewer says: Faulting application name: bad_module_info, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00007ff66475a489 Faulting process id: 0xa54 Faulting application start time: 0x01d79dce37d73df5 Faulting application path: bad_module_info Faulting module path: unknown Report Id: 30c711a0-6521-4c46-84e5-9dd52caa5c08 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:

Edited by ANDROAZ: 8/30/2021 6:58:49 PMMine started crashing today. 5 minutes after starting game. Trying some of the random "fixes" from the thread now. Update: Set my video card back to default (drivers were already up to date). So far no crash. [Asus 2080ti, Ryzen 9 3900x with mild OC] This worked for me so hopefully it will help someone else as well.
-
This started to happen to me today, & of course it happens when I need one more VoG run to finish all weeklies, lol. Very infuriating thing to deal with when your PC is pretty much new. Thank you for the response on the issue & I hope it gets fixed soon. Thank you to everyone working on this issue!
-
I'm now experiencing this as well. The game will just crash without any error codes. The game freezes for a few seconds then goes back to desktop. What is the ETA on a fix for this?
-
This started happening to me today as well. 3080ti Ryzen 7 3700x Samsung 970 Evo - I do not have magician installed Tried several things mentioned in this thread but nothing seems to be helping. I load into the game and tried something like blind well and it will crash two minutes into the activity. Hopefully a fix comes soon.

7 RepliesLowered FPS to 75. Restarted PC. No issues in the past 30 min. Everything is so empty, I guess so many gave up and did something else to kill time.
-
3 RepliesCrashing frequently. 750 hours just on Steam and never crashed once until yesterday, now crashing indiscriminately every 10-20 minutes. Crashed hopping off my sparrow in the dreaming city, crashed moving from the tower's main area to the right wing, crashed entering a strike, crashed killing an enemy in patrol. No errors or messages at all it either just freezes, then crashes or goes black screen and crashes.
-
2 RepliesSame issue. Screen freezes in random places but there is music on the background. Then I was sent to the desktop. 16GB i5-8400 GTX1660S
-
Same issue, ryzen 5800X RTX3070 game crashes whenever it wants, freeze and desktop after few seconds. It happens randomly, once 5min into game, another time 30. Sometimes it leaves "bad_module_info" with 0xc0000005 exception journal entry, sometimes it doesn't. Once I had hard crash with screen corrupted, it looked like polygon grid and then hard reset. GPU OC doesn't matter CPU OC doesn't matter XMP on/off doesn't make a difference
-
Well here is my story too, have some freezing issue too since the release of the new season. I though to find a solution with the firewall and battleeye file. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odYVPPd3ixU It worked for 2 days without crashing. Today I have played like 5 hours and then it started again. Hope it will be fix soon.
-
Yeah man, same issue here. Tried all the workarounds that people have mentioned and no joy. Hopefully gets fixed soon.

Edited by BERSERKshire: 8/27/2021 9:44:58 AMCrashing consistently... between 5 to 20 minutes... frame rate drops... game crashes. Saying refer to error code rutabega.
