I kind of see what you are saying. But realistically how many shader purchases will you make a season? 3 or 4? 5? So the increase in bright dust we have been given, which we earn through playing (don't forget there are several avenues to do this... Completing 15 to 30 bounties would result in 300 dust), it's not real money, will sort of go toward the increase in shader cost.
I think it's potentially a slippery slope and has to be managed carefully, but it could also be suggested that shaders are currently cheap as chips despite being one of the major cosmetic enhancements you can use.
Also, this is a game as a service and it is provided free for the most part. As a result Bungie, and any other developer who runs this type of game, needs us to keep playing and keep spending in order to keep developing it. That's business 101. We can't have all the content but not put back in ocassionally, that would soon result in a total shutdown as it is no longer an economically viable proposition. I am talking more about Eververse here, but you get the point.

The only issue is this free to play game costs 70-90 dollars a year to play. Anyone who plays this game knows that you get next to nothing with FTP. It's a wannabe free to play game. Bungie thinks they can have it both ways; buy the season pass to get access to the new mission AND buy 15-45 dollars worth of silver to get the new armor for your 1-3 classes. And I know. "If you don't like it don't buy silver." That's the whole point. People should stop buying silver and let Bungie know that we know when they are trying to push us

I disagree. I think there is space for microtransactions as well as FTP and paid content. I know that destiny is a game. Its fun, it's a pastime, it's something we do to enjoy ourselves. I think it can be hard to see past that when dealing with the starker realities, that being that Bungie are providing a product, as a business, and we are consumers of that product. A business needs money in order to survive, and continue producing product. It is a product they are. Passionate about, clearly, but revenue streams are required to keep the business healthy. Then we get more content. They recently announced a new site and 200 more staff so they can provide enough content to us. But we begrudge handing over any money for this. It all feeds into the business. That's not a bad thing for us players.

also little side note, the actual quality of the game has gone down since it went FTP. No new PVP maps. No new IB armor. Raid armor looks worse than eververse armor (even though D1 raid armor was the pinnacle of fashion for the game)
