When I read the TWAB me and my friends started talking about the shaders immediately. Our general consensus was that it seemed unnecessary and a little "greasy" (looking at you finance team), but that it was understandable.
It seemed weird cause their reasoning was that shaders are now 1 time purchases, but they have been one time purchases since collections was introduced, so nothing changed.
Then I remembered that just this season (season 13) Bungie buffed the amount of Bright Dust it was giving it's players, ONLY FOR THEM TO INCREASE BRIGHT DUST PRICES ONE SEASON LATER.
I have always been on board with Eververse. It's a good idea that let's Bungie make a free to play game, but this is just a "-blam!- you" to consumers.
It's obvious that Bungie realized that an increase in Bright Dust made it easier for people to buy an eververse set for bright dust, meaning they might only spend 15 dollars on one set instead of 30 to buy two sets. So they created a completely BS reason to increase the price of shaders in hopes that it would reduce the amount of Bright Dust people have left over, causing more people to spend 15 dollars on their silver sets.
At the end of the day, it's not about the shaders. I really don't care about spending a little more imaginary money on a shader. It's about the fact that I feel like I was tricked by a company who just wanted money. And it's about the fact that this is two steps back. This is the first domino that people ignore that leads to more things increasing in price and eventually things going silver only.
Thanks for reading :)

10 RepliesIm confused at why people are complaining about shaders when they are in a way reverting them back to the way they were in destiny 1 just with bright dust, instead of glimmer i think it was? Plus bright dust is easier to come by than what most people believe you just have to be willing to grind out bounties

4 RepliesEdited by pacificdune: 4/25/2021 11:10:08 AMIt’s completely optional. And cosmetic. I don’t understand the outrage. People mad about this don’t have 9 year old daughters that play Roblox, and ask for more Robux on a daily basis.

1 ReplyJust giving you another bump, I've been watching the post stay on page 1 of feedback since after the TWAB on Thursday
-
1 ReplyThey're going from consumable to permanent, aren't they? I think we get to keep the ones we've already unlocked. I won't be purchasing many shaders with bright dust in the future. There seems to be a creep in the monetization in this game.

7 RepliesWe hear you* *We don't care

66 RepliesI hate to be that guy, but if you put $$ for a set, you’re part of the problem.

This isn't the first domino.

This really got over 1k up votes, good job

1 ReplyTo be fair, none of the other bullshit in the Eververse store really appeals to me besides shaders and exotic ornaments, so I have plenty of dust saved up already lol

Congrats on your 1,000+ likes
listens to Baba O’Riley
It is blatant manipulation. With the price increase and the tranmog garbage, theyre purposely trying to frustrate the player base to purchase silver. Simply put theyre testing how much of assholes they can be with their player base. Its scummy, crappy and all around disgusting.

1 ReplyI get the outrage but at the same time I’ve always viewed Destiny as take it or leave it. I just have 3 DSC amor sets all different elements and I’ll will use those to the bitter end.

Edited by RebelJack: 4/25/2021 12:34:08 PMThey didnt increase bright dust earnings. If anything it got cut in half.

Bump 2x

2 RepliesI would like to just see them remove the system altogether, give us a "base" color system and just have some color packs for sale such as Metallic, glow, camouflage, etc that add effects to the base shade's and are a one time buy. It would allow individuality in customization, be completely optional, would still make bank for Bungie, and would free up some artists time from making stupid shader's to making better content. Win/win. I'm pretty sure that there are other games that use a similar system already so there should be no reason not to use it here besides stupidity and greed.

1097...... 1097...... transmog really backfired lol

I'm 100% expecting a full reversal or only bumping the cost slightly to appease this complaint to maybe win people over with the current shit storm happening. It feels too much like a "let's see what people are willing to tolerate" change.

1 ReplyThis game needs to stop this free to play & EV bulls*** and just include everything in the yearly cost of the game/season pass. $45 for event armor??? $8 for a shader or emote?? on top of $70 for per year for expansions and season passes?? What in the actual F*** Bungie???!!!!

Didn't even think ppl bought shaders but man guess I was wrong

8 RepliesOmg you lot. I didn’t realise making your character look good made him output more damage. Or take less. It’s a game just play it.
-
18 RepliesI would prefer paying 10-15 a month to play destiny then have to deal with this freemium shite. -blam!- free to play. Give me quality over quantity.
-
11 RepliesGuys...you buy the shaders once. What's all the fuss about? Makes no sense to make shaders unlockables and leave the material costs as is. Of course they get more expansive.

1 ReplyIt's time to bail. Y'all did this. I never wanted microtransactions. I wanted a videogame, not a cashshop. I'll pay for a game, but not microtransactions. You want this system? Then that's what they'll give you. Game has changed. They've made it into a mobile free to try version with microtransactions not associated with the game. I'm just here to play a game. This is not it. If you like it, stay and let them milk you. If you don't, it's time to bail. This game won't change, it's a Milking Cow. I also want transmog and shaders, but not like this. Let's bail. It's time to go.
