I hear the same ole reply, over and over again. OP raises a valid question and people attack OP. How original. OP, I agree. These attitudes are present in every game though. I have found some awesome folks through random matchmaking, so I don't really understand the no matchmaking for even the highest/hardest game modes. I believe it's time to open the game wide open. One thing I'll disagree slightly on is Trials. It's gated bc the rewards are supposed to be better and top-tiered for you to prove you are worthy. That said, Adept weapons should be available everywhere in the hardest content BUT there should be matchmaking so randoms like myself have access.

  • Matchmaking doesnt work in raids because of the mechanics involved, which are both communication heavy and knowledge based. 2 things you cant guarentee a random team has, and that are absolutely vital, lest you get stuck permanently at the first encounter. I dont doubt youve met some great people through lfg, but that doesnt mean matchmaking for raids in this case is a good idea.

  • I disagree. While the propensity of getting a "bad" fit exists, matchmaking also opens up opportunities to meet some uniquely strong guardians that could probably teach people a thing or two. Also, matchmaking should be optional, not mandatory as in strikes bc of a team wants just their people, they should be able to keep that intact. Lastly, matchmaking for raids would be equivalent to when my clan are looking for a body just to fill the fireteam bc someone left and no one is online. We scour our friends lists, just looking for anyone playing Destiny.

  • In an ideal world yes, that would work, however the chances of the game matching 6 people who dont know what theyre doing is quite high. If it always matches in 1 or 2 players whove done the raid theyll most likely stop using it, because theyd always be expected to sherpa. Which brings me to the final point, the in game communication is terrible, MW2 level of bad. Experienced players that want to sherpa will just set up a sherpa lfg and use discord anyway. This will leave you with a mode full of people who get hardstuck at the first encounter, which will create a tsunami of complaints. Besides, guided games were a thing, and nkbody did it outside of matching premade groups for emblems because it just didnt work as it should.

  • Remember D1 strikes? As I know they weren't on par with raids, but some required coordination amongst players.....and it worked. Also, I've played in raids with clan members who had no idea what they were doing. I think at the end of the day, it's about wanting to play and have patience with others, while accepting the fact that some players will be good and others will be just plain awful. Either way, if you don't want to take that chance, don't toggle on the matchmaking. See, simple solution and everyone gets to play the way they want with access to the content they desire to play.

  • You are completely ignoring the fact that over 90% of matchmade groups WILL NOT be able to get past the first encounter, let alone finish a raid. This is not good gamedesign.

  • Them leave the toggle off for matchmaking. I've played with randoms that were friends of friends and others just to fill spots in D1. It was annoying at first but as most stuck with it, we got past each encounter. No one is saying matchmaking is the key to successful raids, we are saying it should be an option for players, period. Why is it so difficult to allow people the option to try??? If you don't want randoms, stay the course as it is now. Having a toggle on and off makes no impact on you or your clan.

  • I rarely ever raid with a clan, i flg most of the time. Also, friends of friends is still something else entirely from matchmaking. In d1 you used party chat or whatever the xbox equivalent was when raiding. A lot of people dont even know destiny 2 has a voicechat. The odds of randoms joining your party chat, or figure out how to use the awful voip on pc are really low. There is also the fact that those friends of friends are more likely to want the raid to succeed, since they have some connection to the other players. Complete randoms dont, making it a complete wildcard. Then there is the final fact that there is a serious time commitment to raids, they are longer than strikes and crucible matches.

  • I agree. It would lead to incredible frustration and people constantly leaving.
