Why Masterworking is Important:
If we’re supposed to experiment with seasonal/artifact mods and rotate our armor every few seasons (especially in pve), we need to be able to try out those mods without destroying our ability to have more reserves, stat mods, etc… Also, masterworking is important for stats. In pve it seems to be agreed stats are irrelevant outside of endgame material. Maybe, although I’m sure you could argue that’s not true. Regardless, stats are ALWAYS important in pvp. While there might be casual pvp players, there’s no such thing as casual pvp- at least in the current matchmaking environment. It really is a disadvantage not to have the max possible stats and mods for targeting, unflinching, etc. Quick side note: traction just needs to become intrinsic on all boots. It’s so game changing it’s ridiculous not to run it. Especially on console.
The Problem:
Masterwork materials are hard to come by. I appreciate that they’re present to a limited extent on the season pass. That’s nice, although it’s not farmable. In pve, if you aren’t high enough light run 1030 nightfalls (you haven’t grinded pinnacles and bounties), you’re not getting shards. In pvp, it’s nice that mats can drop from flawless runs, but with the state trials is in, that’s only helpful for the top 1%, their carries, and cheaters. For pve players, there’s a very limited way to acquire shards and for almost all pvp players, there’s NO way to acquire them or prisms.
Solutions:
These are a bunch of changes I think could made. Doing all of these would probably be overkill, but this is just to show that there are many options.
Lower masterwork price of exotic armor to match all other armor.
Ascendant shards on valor reset. Accessible to everyone, but it still takes time. It would also keep people in the qp playlist and actually incentivize winning.
Prisms on all major glory rank-ups and all major valor rank-ups after Fabled (major meaning name change like mythic-legend, etc). Valor rewards should continue to be earnable even after first reset.
Rare chance at shards on every pinnacle drop.
Rare chance at prisms on every powerful milestone.
Chance at prisms and/or shards from core seasonal activities- even if it’s a high end version, it would actually get people to play it.
Better exchange rate at Banshee (5:1 instead of 10:1 on both prisms and shards).
Dismantling gear refunds all shards and prisms that were used to get the gear to that level.
Remove prism requirement from energy level 8 (even if you make level 9 more expensive, it still buys us one more mod spot).
Allow Xur to sell prisms and/or shards (even if they’re expensive and there’s an account limit of 3 prisms and 1 shard per week or month).
Lower cost of seasonal mods during the season they’re introduced to encourage trying them out. Then raise them to whatever seems appropriate in future seasons.
If drop rate of shards and prisms does increase, allow us to use them to re-roll stats on armor or select a stat to “focus” on.

2 RepliesI agree completely. It is ridiculous that you have to go flawless in Trials to get an Ascendant Shard. A Valor reset should provide an Ascendant Shard. Prisms should also be awarded by the method you provided.

1 ReplyAdd enhancement prisms as a reward for doing the daily heroic story mission
-
I agree completely. The entire resource economy needs a comprehensive review and a significant number of reductions/modifications.
-
Most of the people I know have too many masterwork materials. I’d like to see more inventory space for them so I don’t have to masterwork armor to store prisms in my vault.

3 Replies"We listened and have removed Enhancement Prisms and Ascendant Shards from Banshee's inventory. Ascendant Shards can now only come from Grandmaster Nightfall"
-
3 RepliesJust farm legend ordeal or master. I did it with random people from lfg. If I can do it you should be able to do it too

It sure the Cuss Dose!

1 ReplyOP: I agree. Plus, our time as players, not just the developers time, is a resource not to be wasted, but respected. Farming the same nightfall all week for resources to masterwork a few pieces of armor gets BORING after a while.
-
1 ReplyBeen playing since launch. Literally never masterworked a single piece of armor the entire time because I never have the materials. I mostly play pvp though and Bumgie couldn't give a shit less about giving crucible some real support.

3 RepliesNot saying you are wrong but in the meantime you can use a workaround. Run Pit on all 3 characters each week. It drops a guaranteed masterworked armour piece. Low stat. Dismantle them yields 3x 6 prisms and 6 cores. Take 10 from the 18 prisms to Banshee and buy 1 ascendant shard. Guaranteed per week.

2 RepliesYou know its AMAZING. Every time we whine enough about the masterwork economy, Bungo comes back with a lame story and proceeds to make it worse. Maybe we should praise how much we love it and they'll actually fix it.
-
Great idea... Not. You want everything to be easier. If everything is easier all the content is gone there is a reason why the shards drop where they do.

I agree with everything you are saying except Actually though stats matter a whole he’ll of a lot in PVE, try running 10 intellect and tell me how many supers you get in a strike, every single stat except resilience matters a lot in PVE as well.

1 ReplyAgreed. That economy needs work.

2 RepliesTo get the mats directly is takes effort, I'll give you that. But you can buy them from the Gunsmith in exchange for cores you get from deleting weapons and armor you get anywhere in the game that you spend your time. If you dont feel like you get them fast enough, you need to be patient and let some resources stack up. I hover around 900-1200 cores at any given time. For a span of about 2 months, I did gunsmith bounties everyday on every character so I could have enough to not worry about them in the future. I can now play without doing them and my stockpile stays high from dismantles. Once you get some momentum going, you'll forget why you even posted this.
