No!!
Because that would break the game.
All you’d need is to get one perfectly rolled set of armor, then you could use it forever. We’d be back to basically cosmetic armor again.
As the guy who did Loot 2.0 for Diablo 3 said:
Gamers are often their own worst enemies and need to be protected from themselves. If they figure out that they can get the game’s best loot by running in a five-foot circle, they will do it. So you sometimes have to net let the player do what he wants in order to protect the experience of playing the game.
Bungie is doing exactly that. What you are asking for would destroy the value of armor as a loot item to chase.
What they done is a great idea that will allow your armor to stay current in the game for nine months before you are incentivized to get new armor.

Like armour or gear has any value to begin with lmao.
-
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. If it isn’t of any value to you then you really have nothing to complain about do you? Right?
-
Oh the complaint? How about actually make gear matter?
-
It does. If you can’t see that’s a you problem. The sandbox is in the best shape it’s ever been in as far as pve in concerned. All sorts of builds and loadouts are powerful and fun to play.

Edited by xbroggiex: 2/17/2020 2:25:50 PMAh, yes all these "builds" that I can use that don't ultimately matter and are just resource sinks to get suckers to waste mats on... Tell me when is the last time I needed a good build to survive a raid or any piece of "pinnicle" content? Isn't this an MMORPG? This whole system is incredibly shallow with no real depth or usefulness, the current weapon system is not viable for new gear that is released as new gear that releases is always garbage compared to existing gear. Armour 2.0 is a complete joke and hasn't really done anything to really evolve the game in any meaningful way.

Edited by kellygreen45: 2/17/2020 2:31:01 PM1. This is not a traditional MMO. 2. This is how loot games work. The reward for the grinding is that the game gets easier because we become more powerful. It why they are called power-fantasy games. So your unhappiness is not a reflection on this game’s design. If you want some other experience then I suggest you go play World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls Online, or Black Desert Online. Because you are fighting the identity of this game. It has never been what you seem to want, and it will never be what you seem to want.
-
Tbh this game isn't even really an MMO when you can only have like 9 people in the same instance out in the world. I guess it would be more like MO (Multiplayer Online). The thing about the loot is that getting it hasn't made the game easier or made us more powerful, the power fantasy is kind of a joke when things get constantly nerfed to oblivion because people said they were "op" in PvP. The game at this point with new content is ridiculously easy that anything new that gets released doesn't make you stronger but just bloats the game with useless loot, is anyone seriously going to use any of the Dawn/Undying weapons in "pinnicle" content over some of the other guns that already exist? This game barely has an identity with Bungie constantly changing the vision of the game every goddamn year, I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap the vision they have for this year and do the whole spiel of "this is the definitive vision for the game" again. We haven't become anymore powerful since D1.
-
1. Toxic nostalgia. I went and played House of wolves last week when the servers were down. We are so much faster and more powerful than we were in D1 it’s laughable. 2. Go play something else. What you want is simply not compatible with a loot game. Therefore Bungie is not to blame for your dissatisfaction. If you want a game that will test you DONT PLAY POWER FANTASY GAMES. World of Warcraft it Datk Souls will be happy to have you. This game is for people who want to live the fantasy of being science-fiction warrior angels who get to kick the ass of supernatural evil.
-
So having loot matter in a "loot game" is not compatible in a "loot game"?
-
They way you are defining that term? Yes. You are demanding that a loot game be designed like a traditional MMO, and NONE OF THEM ARE. In loot games the reward for grinding is POWER, and the game gets easier, initial the next content drop where the jumps are raised, and the grind for peer begins again. Rinse and repeat. That is how Diablo 3 plays. That is how Borderlands games play. That is how this game plays. So you are criticizing this game for behaving HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO. The game gets easy as you level up because THATS YOUR REWARD for the effort to do so. If you don’t like this you are playing the wrong KIND of game for your tastes and that is not Bungie’s fault. There are other games out there that will give you the experience you seem to want.
-
Edited by xbroggiex: 2/17/2020 6:02:18 PMThe thing is Diablo 3 and Borderlands is that they actually have loot that matters in terms of progression.
-
Edited by kellygreen45: 2/17/2020 6:07:07 PMSo does Destiny. I’ve played all three games, and then some. Diablo 3 auto-scales so it preserves the illusion of infinite power-progression. But at the cost of feeling like you grow more powerful over time. Borderlands 1&2 weren’t designed for continuous play, so didn’t address these issues. Borderlands 3 tried to dip its toe into the GAS waters, and ran into the same power-progression problems that have hit all these developers. Streamers and other no-lifers pillaged the game’s loot in a matter of weeks and let Gearbox floundering for a solution.

Here is a meme you can look at cus I can't be bothered to talk about Destiny anymore: https://imgur.com/a/S5jxeUV
