Its a solution designed to help against bad rng while also providing incentive to make multiple armor sets (which is a good thing). I have all my armor with 28+ recov on it (excluding exotics) and I have 2 of each element in each slot (one set of each element for pve and one of each for pvp). That's how the armor systems is supposed to be used; making sets for different activitys. Not staying on the same set for everything you do. It's supposed to be a time commitment to get everything you want. It took me a few months to get all my gear sorted but you don't see me complaining. Its part of the grind and its no different than grinding for a weapon with the perks you want.

  • I'm not complaining about the time commitment to get your set sorted out. That said, in response to your point, the armor system is intended to encourage experimentation with different mods/loadouts, stated directly by bungie. This cost DISCOURAGES that. I am highlighting the fact that the affinity system (which costs as much as it does to set your gear up already) is unjustified. It 100% exists because Bungie's UI couldn't display the full array of mods for each slot at once. They stated it themselves. So, the bypass to their system (bungie problem, not game design decision) has no place charging players all of that time over again. It's not a SOLUTION. If it were it would be something accessible and properly remedying the issue (which is not bad rng, it's the affinity restriction at it's core). What it IS, is Bungie preying on their player base, adding in one more excessive grind in an area of the game that it simply can't justify (not that they'll try).
