What Bungie is actually doing here is increasing player population/time in game artificially without any proper backing.
The only reason for affinity is a bungie resource limitation. There is no significance to the affinity of an armor piece and affinity itself would not be in game were it not for the Bungie resource limit.
Requiring this massive cost to change is just artificially inflating player population, forcing players to duplicate an already massive effort.
Also, to those suggesting change 1 is free, change 2 costs, change 3 costs more, etc: what about when Bungie drops in some new exciting mod with a different affinity in a subsequent season? You've already changed several armor pieces and paid the fortune Bungie required, and now you have to do it all over again.
This proposal (which is likely already in the code and Bungie won't change it all (although they'll tell us "we're listening")) does nothing but exacerbate an already frustrating part of the game.
It's simple: allow affinity to be changed, charge the player zero because this is a Bungie problem, not a game design consideration.

Thank you. I can’t believe the players who are like “ it’s a UI problem “. It’s THIER UI problem, not ours.
