To get 22 Ascendant Shards and 14 Enhancement Prisms, especially for a solo player, would take more time than most could possibly endure.
Not to mention the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. By the way you’re getting trolled by someone who likely has no idea that they’re actually trolling you. I would definitely brush that off and move a long to something worth worrying about.

Maybe you should also think about the fact that as a solo player with limited avenues to good drops you will no longer have to worry about RNG for affinity! That’s right one of those pesky avenues of RNG has been removed! You can now evaluate armour purely based on its stats! It’s actually a really great thing! 🤩🤩🤩

The cost of masterworked gear to circumvent the restrictions no one wanted is the issue here. It's just not doable for many players and not a solution. But if this issue doesn't affect them I'm not sure why you're here.
-
SOLO. You are complaining about a problem you are creating for yourself.
-
Righto. It's the players fault to play how they want and not Bungie for wanting to force a unworkable, unwanted system. NEXT
-
It is completely your fault for choosing not to play with a fire team. As an ex solo player I understand your frustration but it is completely a choice you are making. No one else is to blame for you decisions and behaviour. Also you get to provide input that is it. You don’t get a say in the actual game development. I’m not here to kick you when you are feeling down but I really do think several of you are missing the pony to these armour changes. It completely takes the RNG away from grinding, essentially removing 1/3 of the grind. If you already master-worked a gear piece you regret... sorry that is one you again.
-
On the other side, I am NOT a solo player. I have a clan of friends I play with and if they're not on I have no issue going to LFG. What @Yamabushi999i is trying to say (I believe), is that the cost, whether you play solo or with a fire team, is unacceptable, and I agree. Master working gear has an astronomical cost, and I don't take exception here as you should not be trying to MW everything, find your select gear and make a true load out that is tweaked to your desired stats and play style. But for Bungie to FINALLY implement a method to change affinity and add in the same astronomical cost is not reasonable. Yes, for an armor piece discovered and not improved the cost is low and it removes the affinity piece of RNG, but we're talking about players who've been grinding for many, many, MANY hours already. Players who had no way of knowing what Bungie was going to do and likely had to settle on affinitys they didn't like in order to get the stats they did (cause RNG sucks). Bungie has explained already that the affinity system only exists due to a Bungie resource limit, not an actual game design intention. This new feature is really just a work around to a Bungie limit. Why should Bungie's limits cost the player their own valuable time? It took me from Armor 2.0 inception till last week to finally get my hunter build where I want it. Investing in mw'ing 4 of 5 armor pieces to do it. Now if I want to change the few of those pieces that are not my preferred affinitys I have a shit load of grinding in activities that are already obsolete just to get resources to correct Bungie's own deficiency?? Fire team or not this is not an acceptable solution. Think of it this way: if you go get an oil change and the technician tells you they can only use organic oil in your car because their synthetic pump needs to be serviced, but then offers to fix the synthetic pump except you have to pay for those repairs. This is Bungie "fixing" their own issue and charging the players time for it.

I believe the true reason is this. 1. The player base is falling BUT many of those staying and playing a lot are hard core and really, despite the moans, will play the game no matter what. 2. To compensate for the lack of hours played on the game by the reduced-numbers they’re expecting, they just increase the time required to grind for gear. 3. The end result is that they can show the stakeholders figures showing the game is healthy and being played. ( also the reason we’re taking four minutes to fly into the tower, despite their given reasons.)
-
I’m not ignoring the cost of changing the affinity it the cost of master working a new piece of gear. The community seems to be ignoring the fact that is drastically cuts down on grinding for god rolled pieces that fit your build due to affinity not mattering in the RNG loot grind anymore. It’s a massive STEP in the right direction and people are acting like we are going backwards.

Edited by Artisan: 2/15/2020 8:54:03 PMIt's just the cost, the truly insane cost if you have bothered to masterwork anything that is suitable for affinity change. Almost no cost if you haven't bothered or want to start all over again Vs astronomical cost if you have bothered and will not do it all over again. Many players haven't been too painstaking about stats and distribution to care so this really punishes hard and unnecessarily those who have.

Yeah, I understand completely what you are saying. However, it still comes down to players who made bad decision with their mats. Period. I have several mats because I choose to only master work gear I really want master worked. I saved pieces in anticipation of some sort of affinity change coming into play eventually. I’m in a better position for this update. You chose to masterwork a set you didn’t like. Up until now you where stuck with that poor decision. Now you will have the ability to reverse that bad decision. I don’t know what else to say to you? Hopefully, you put more thought into what you spend your time and mats on in the future. It is YOUR Choice to to do with your mats what you will. Good luck Guardian.

Wow, before this one I thought you might be reasonably level headed, now I see that is not the case. I mean, you gotta be completely shittin me with this!! A player who made the decision to sacrifice the benefits of the affinity that they want, in favor of the stats that they have, and accordingly MW'd an item to do so is making bad decisions? Because we should all just sit on our hands in hopes that Bungie will fix their screw ups (because they have such a positive track record with that)? You have removed all credibility from your posts and shown your particularly dim perspective. After you MW your gear, after you pay the less, but still ridiculous cost to do so, and in the following season when Bungie offers mods of different affinity and you are now in the position of having to fork out the mountain of resources because A) you don't mind if Bungie bends you over, and B) you actually played the game, THEN I want to see what you think about this. Till then, I do hope you show yourself the door.

How is me having 93 legs, 88 chest, 86 arms 89 helmet....a waste of mats? Honestly...please tell me how MW the highest stat rolled armor a waste? And last season it was IB gear. So basically what you're attempting to say is that anyone who MW their gear the last 2 seasons.... weren't supposed to.... because we all knew this change was coming. Seriously...................I mean .......
SERIOUSLY???????
-
I wasn’t attempting to say anything. I was pretty clear on all the points I made. If you master-worked gear that fits your build or play style then it wasn’t a waste. If you master-worked gear you are not happy with them it was a waste, it’s pretty much that simple. Spare me your outrage.
-
Spare us....your lecture.
-
Maybe if you had received a few more lectures in your life you wouldn’t find yourself in these salty little predicaments? Good luck with your forum aggression today pal, whatever keeps you from punching holes in your parents drywall.
-
Heh...no salt here. Just calling you out on your bullshit. You said we wasted our mats. You said you knew it was coming. The only thing you made clear is that you're a dipshit.
-
Well, considering I have a ton of mats, great gear and looking forward to the coming adjustments and your a foul mouthed, fully tilted human with no sense of personal responsibility and clear anger managment issues I probably stick with my path of reasoning. Good luck pal. 🤷♂️✌️
-
Edited by Shatterday: 2/15/2020 8:36:02 PMYou didn't give any reasoning. You just said people who MW their gear wasted their mats and that solo players are shit outta luck. Foul mouth? Really? Is it censored? Didn't think so. Edit - and for the record. I've got MW set for every affinity. All my weapons....and have plenty of mats. Can easily change what I want when the change comes. Your assumptions are getting outta hand.
-
Don't waste your time with @Brother Hesh He obviously has a crystal ball and sits on his hands while others play the game. When others get the stat roll they were chasing for months (but not the affinity), and finally give up hope that will ever get that same perfect roll with the right affinity so they MW to get the stats perfect with the rest of their loadout, they're obviously fools wasting mats and should be asking hesh what he sees in the future before they make any decisions..... He'll get his though. After sets himself up and MW's and then next season Bungie introduces new mods on different affinities and he's in here complaining that he doesn't have any more mats since he spent them to MW the current armor. Then he'll realize what a -blam!- job this "solution" is and just how ignorant he has been. It comes around.
-
This circular argument is going nowhere. IF YOU spent mats on gear YOU don’t like it was a waste of mats. IF YOU spent mats on gear YOU like then it was not a waste of mats. No one said don’t masterwork any gear. I have several masterworked pieces myself. I however, am patient and selective with what gear I CHOOSE to masterwork. My point is that this change moving forward removes a significant amount of RNG from the armour grind. I will not “lecture” you on that again, as I am losing interest in this conversation. Solo players are at a disadvantage. I said a was formerly a solo player. My progress in this game is considerably better playing with a fire team. Playing solo is clearly a disadvantage. I don’t have anything against solo players. It is hard to do and I sympathize. It is however a personal choice and one the PLAYER is ultimately responsible for. I urge you to go back and read the previous posts I’ve made so you can stop misconstruing my words, thou I think you are doing so purposely.
-
Oh l see. Yeah...this is clearly all me....just mixing up your words. Right, sure. We'll just go with that.

Edited by Brother_Hesh: 2/15/2020 9:26:40 PMCool works for me. I glad we are clear. It only took me explaining it two or three times.
