Yup, there aren't any 'hero moments' where half of your team is down and yet you're able to still yank out an encounter from the depths. Now if one person misses the one minor thing, raid over, wipe.

Exaggeration doesn't make a good argument, it only makes a worse one when it's debunked.
Now if one person misses the one minor thing, raid over, wipe.
Nope, you will never wipe if only ONE person misses a MINOR thing. Entering the portal at the final boss of GOS is the only thing that can cause a wipe from one person. Don't believe me? Gos 1st encounter, One person dies, that's average, just res them, ez recov. Gos 2nd Encounter, One person dies, that's average, just get a floater to res them, ez recov One person runs out of enlightend, that's what the floaters for, no recov needed Gos 3rd Encounter, One person dies one eyes team, that's fine, res them, ez recov One person dies on mote team, that's all good, res them, and make back the motes they lost, not a biggie. Gos 4th encoutner, anchor dies, get team 2 runners or 2nd anchor to res, no problems. runner dies without motes, that's all goods, res them runner dies WITH mtoes, thats difficult but not impossible to recover as the boss wipe mechanic takes it's bloody time Someone misses the portal, just recov the same way as the previous point. The only thing that causes a team wipe is if the wipe mechanic triggers or if you run out of revive tokens. In any case that isn't ONE PERSON messing up ONE MINOR THING

Once in a VoG raid we all stayed on the platform and tried to finish Atheon. He barely had any health but the relic timer expired and we wiped. I was a Rez warlock and I used my super and spammed nades until the timer got me and even though I died my last nade killed Atheon and we got the clear even though we were all dead. It was fantastic.

What're you talking about? Somone dies grabbing motes or misses their portal you just send them again. The only "wipe" like mechanic is missing a tether during damage phase, but that's the equivalent to not shooting the oversoul. I think we're being a little selective here.

I can't speak for the newest raid, I was referring to all the previous ones in D2. Crown for example, break up in teams of 2, you have to do the crystal, cleanse, get the ax guy, etc etc etc. If someone dies, it's over... D1 Raids just seemed to have so much more personality, like Totems in Taken King...guy dies, oh man, we need to all hit our shots on DPS or we're screwed...It wasn't an immediate "well, that's over, reset"

It's not life or death like you make it.
