The other day I did some Master Nightfalls and I only got 2 Ascendant Shards, I was excited because I thought fully Masterworking a piece of armor required 1 Ascendant Shard. But no, it requires 3. What the -blam!-? Not to mention the cost of buying one from the Gunsmith is ridiculous.
EDIT: Masterworking Legendary Gear only requires 1 Ascendant Shard. Exotics cost 3, which is still too much.

because of that, I'm still using older masterworked guns and infusing them to 950.
-
I'd like to see Ascendent shards available from a Crucible and Gambit resets. Those can be pretty lengthy grinds and another option for guardians that don't do as much PVE content.
-
I’ll never masterwork a single piece of armor bc of the ridiculous cost. Idk what they were thinking. I know it was meant to be an end game goal but I’m 109 on my season pass and have a +14 bonus on my seasonal artifact and consider myself a dedicated Destiny player; but the cost of masterworking armor is beyond even me. These costs have to change.
-
Thanks for the feedback. I'll let the team know you feel Masterworking is currently too expensive.
-
The honeymoon period is over and Shadowkeep feels like a snoozefest. Moon still feels empty with all of the empty instances and there just aren't enough things to chase outside of pinnacle gear activities. Once you've reached 950 base power level, the game becomes extremely shallow in what activities to do to climb in power. There are more irrelevant and legacy activities than there are relevant and powerful gear activities. If Factions and most of the D1 Y3 QoL changes were here in D2, I'd probably have more fun playing D2.
-
Just farm nightfalls lmao
-
Well fully masterworking armor gives it a bonus to all stats which is why it costs so much, but the bonus is only around +2 to each stat, which is mostly worthless. I think a good solution would be to keep the cost of masterworking just as high, but make it so you can increase 3 chosen stats of the armor by around 5 or higher. Sure decreasing the cost is also good, but unoriginal and boring. I think giving a better reason for the high cost is a better solution.

Edited by WHISKEYJ0HNNY0: 10/25/2019 10:59:13 PMAgreed! With all the armor and weapon options why hell make master working so damn impossible?
-
They don’t care. Artificial grind is their only content, along with re-skins and previously-sold items.
-
Edited by TheShadow-cali: 10/26/2019 12:10:56 AMMasterworking items were created for a time filler. Think about this for a moment. What is there to do if you've been playing D2 since it released if you already collected most items from previous content that is now just content to run just for the sake of running them? D2 should have been updated in many ways. Not just adding a couple of new activities that barely offer anything.

It is a lil pricy I can never seem to have enough glimmer
-
I’m confused about masterworking, I just masterworked or what I thought was masterworking and it just cost enhancement cores and legendary shards.

Well to be fair masterworking does increase your total of your stats by 12, even if its just two in each. Full masterwork is a full extra tier in everything so I can somewhat understand why its so rare. Cost though I agree and disagree. Ive had no issue getting a few things up to 9 and still having plenty left over. But then again, not everybody is A: Running the premium pass B: As stacked up on mats But also, cores are so easy to get. If you've got the time and 3 characters you get 9 cores a day from the gunsmith and if you're in a leveled clan you get 7 from your challenge. thats 30 total you could on each reset not including some other stuff I know Im forgetting. Then just go farm Ordeal. So you can really stack up those cores fairly quick for the prisms. Ascendants Shards though, yea I think a 980 NF should guarantee one. Regarding exotic cost I think its perfectly fair. I have a pair of Ophidian Aspects that could max out at 89. Let that sink in. 89/100. Imo 3 shards is fine for that. Just imagine having a total that high on something like Celestial Nighthawk where like 30 of it is intellect. See my point? I think if they just make 980s guarantee the shards it wont be as big a deal. Final note. This is stuff to help with the most endgame of endgame content. If you dont plan on doing raids or Ordeal or high tier competitive or something else rough then you dont need too and shouldn't worry about this stuff. If you just do normal strikes your world drops are more than adequate. If you want more go do the work for them.

Edited by pixelchimper: 10/27/2019 7:51:12 AMThe problem is that once you reach 950 after a few days as a pve player 98% of the game becomes irrelevant and the other 2% is out of reach and you have to struggle with 980 events to get shards etc. So 99%? of the pve side is screwed and pvp only players are 100% screwed. Edit. The percentages are not mathematically worked out but are just numbers I pulled from the top of my head; Similar to what Bungie did with ascendant shards and power levelling.

Edited by ToRni27: 10/26/2019 10:45:42 AMHello Cozmo, I have an easy solution to improve this system. Please pass this along to the team if you read this. Raids completions give 3 prism and a 25% chance to drop a ball. You can clear any Raid of Y1, Y2 and Y3 and those materials drop, even if you have looted the raid in a run before. Unlimited rerun able on those materials. PvP full rank completions give 3 prism. PvP rank resets give a ball. Gambit full rank completions give 3 prism. Gambit rank resets give a ball. Flashpoint completion gives 3 prism. I think we just need more sources to obtain those materials. If they drop passively in some different game modes while playing; people would not feel so bad about it. Thank you for reading.

bruh i spent all my M Cores since Forsaken (bout 300) only to mAsterWork -1- piece of gear, big Sad😥 its obvious you guys wanna prolong playtime through grinding, but for the Love of God please lower the Cost a little bit, similar to how you lowered the amount of Mini boss Kills In the European Aerial Zone, 2 different things but you get the point
-
Dude, how to prolong the grind is the most thought out system in the whole game. If they do change anything it will be with the good ol' "give with one hand, take with the other" system that Bungie uses so well.

exotics cost 3? I just checked my lion rampants and it only wanted 1 shard. Maybe it depends on the roll?
-
tis the point. You can easily get gear to 7 power but if you really want to commit to the gear you have to invest into it. I will say ascendant shards are too rare though
-
There just needs to be more sources for Prisms and Shards. Resetting Valor or Glory should get you a few, as an example. It's really just Nightfalls right now and those just get so boring. Otherwise you have to farm Enhancement Cores and trade them to Banshee. 63 cores from Daily Bounties 21 from getting enough Clan XP That's at least 84 guaranteed Enhancement Cores a week if you have three characters and your Clan has reached the required level. In a similar vein, you can get 630 of a planetary resource from doing all three Daily Bounties on each character every day. Personally, I think you should get 2-3 Prisms for resetting Valor and Infamy and for every 20 levels you get past 100 on the Season Pass. You should also have a chance of getting an additional drop of 2 Prisms or an Ascendant Shard for completing each GoS encounter. As for PvP, maybe have a chance of Prisms dropping after completing a match at Mythic or Legend in Survival? You'd still have to work to get there since there's no rank floors past Fabled and you'd have to keep playing.

Bungie! Raise the level cup! People are bored!

Edited by HappyRogue: 10/26/2019 7:46:10 PMIt is up to your level of difficulty you choose to engage with. For this, I will assume the cost for masterworking 1 legendary armor piece at 1 shard. There are other costs but they are insignificant in comparison. If you run the 980 nightfall you can masterwork a piece after 1-2 runs. If you chose the 950 nightfall it'll be around 10 runs. Likewise, if you chose the 920 nightfall it'll be up to 100 runs.
-
I think it’s fine where it’s at. Something to really work for and not just be handed out quickly.
-
I think its fine honestly , i have like 3 pieces of my gear master worked and i haven't even ran nightfall's that much.
