I'm sure you guys enjoy receiving player feedback so I'm just going to get right to the point.
Your matchmaking system is broken - People who are just getting into the game are getting paired up with 4000 to max rank 5500 glory point players. Normally this wouldn't be an issue with people who have mechanical skill but the problem is that they have access to weapons that we don't.
Speaking about the weapons - The best PVP weapons in the game are only attainable by getting specific ranks. Now normally this system would work and I can agree this is a good way to go about it. The problem is that your matchmaking system is broken so it's borderline impossible to attain these weapons when you're always going up with people who have them.
When I first started playing competitive, I won my first 5 games (steamrolled is a better term) and got placed at 1650ish glory points. What I'm assuming is that your matchmaking system put me with 4000 point players due to this fact. It's not fair to me or my teammates to be put in these games. I'm at a disadvantage and basically throwing the match due to the fact that this game mode is run by three main weapons (two from Glory Ranks and a Shotgun you can only get from a certain Nightfall Strike).
I would love to get some feedback to see if this is an individual problem or if other players are also experiencing this as well.
Edit - After playing for a little while longer, I'm going to admit I jumped the gun on the whole "these guns are OP" situation. After changing my playstyle (and a few hours of screaming things that make me glad the other team can't hear me), I realized that while it's hard it's completely possible to beat them. I still feel that the matchmaker needs more work. While I do think that getting paired against highly ranked players is a good thing to study and learn how they play in real-time, I don't think that getting paired against them for the majority of your games is what I would call a good system. Maybe being paired with teammates and opponents that are a maximum of 1500 glory points difference that's plus or minus your current skill level?

Actually thats just an excuse for losing matches. I personally have reached 4500 (solo que) glory and my load out consists of Crimson, Fate Cries Foul, and Sins of the Past. Yes there is a lot of last word nf and lh but you can out play them. Although I do agree that when I first got into comp this season I was getting steam rolled. Also Bungie please Nerf Erentil.

After playing comp a little more and being a whole lot smarter about it, I can agree with what you say when it comes to the whole gun situation. It's easy to outplay once you notice it and actually play in a group instead of Solo Queue. However, that still doesn't explain the whole "skill mismatching issue" that they said they supposedly fixed, that was the main issue I wanted to address in my post. On the plus side, I hit Fabled I after day 2 when I got matched with similarly skilled glory point ranks as me (so it sometimes works?). So no more complaining about not having Recluse and Mountaintop :)
-
Wait when did they fix the matchmaking because for me I am still getting teammates that literally are a free kill and go negative bad for me.
-
The post says above they applied a fix to it, but honestly from what everyone else is saying they really messed it up hard. I think I got lucky when I was playing.

Wholeheartedly second this, was playing with two mates who are relatively new to Destiny 2 but we did fine in non-comp playlists so thought we would give it a go. We, with our sub-1000 Glory and shit ELO keep getting matched with 4000+ glory teams, all outfitted with the sweatiest of pinnacle weapons. Losing the odd match to a skill imbalance is fine, but the same thing 5 games in a row is just demoralising and new players can't improve when they're being slapped around the map by pros.

I get where you're coming from, best thing I can say is adapt to their playstyles and try and get the best possible loadout you can. If I can get the recluse after 2 days of playing than I wholeheartedly believe that anyone else can.
-
I'll be honest I can go hard with One Earth & Luna Nullis II
-
Ngl really misjudged my loadout, thought pure aim would be good enough :/ But Multi Mida tool and Beloved changed that real quick :). Ty for the advice tho wish I read it sooner lol. Still, think the skill mismatching that they "supposedly" fixed is the real problem here. Then again my pleb ass only got a higher rank cause of studying their play style so who knows.

Dude I just got to 1800 and now all I get put against is people that are 4000+ running not forgotten, I literally have no chance and now no enjoyment, no way is this my skill level lol otherwise I wouldn't be complaining

This is what I did when I was in the same situation, get Mida Tool and a good roll on a Beloved and camp the hell out of a good position. Sounds scummy but when it comes to PVP the only thing that matters is winning. Same as what you're opponents are gonna be doing too so don't feel bad about it. Hit Fabled I from 1800 after 3 games (2 wins, 1 loss). Good luck and just stay calm, unless you're like me and realize your mistakes after you rage for an hour :)
