Consistent Freezing When Loading Activities / Going To Orbit / Etc
Every time I do any of the things listed in the title there is approximately a 50% chance that the game will just hang and then I'll be forced to end the game from the task manager. This never happened prior to the Steam release so I'm at a complete loss. I thought it might be due to my GPU or CPU overclock, but disabling both overclocks had no effect and the issue still occurred. This also happens to one of my friends, though much less often.
My hardware:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 2600X
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3000 Mhz

Just posting to mention that three weeks later the issue is still occurring, I tried to do some Crucible today and after almost every match I had to force the game to shut down via task manager because it froze when it started the transition at the end of the match.

Same as everyone else. Only freezes when entering orbit. I can play a story for a long time but as soon as orbit....BAM!...black screen. Cannot even get the task manager. I can only get the START-menu in windows and press RESTART. Tried so many things now

I am having an issue also. Game hangs on launching/returning to orbit. It is very random at that, although. I've tried checking file integrity, uninstalling and running ccleaner several times with a restart to follow. Then reinstalling destiny fresh. Also I had speccy up for temps, I thought that was the issue so I tried without it running and it did not help. I tried to install latest graphic drivers as well. I noticed on one post that the resolution may have something to do with it. I am running at 3440x1440. Not sure if that makes any difference just noticed the post. The only way to close the game is ending the process in TaskMan. It says "not responding" next to it. Hardware I5 8600k EVGA RTX 2080 32 GB DDR4 3000 Mhz

He can't get the game to play on 4K as well. Another friend and myself have been playing on 1080 res and are not experiencing the same issues he is. @ARobertHarrison

1 ReplyJust noting that this is still happening quite frequently, it may even be increasing in frequency, though that could just be due to random chance. I dread having to return to orbit after an activity because most times I do that in particular the game will freeze right before fading to black and I have to use task manager to end the process.

Can confirm, going to orbit, sometimes even randomly, mostly when alt tabbing. Windows 10 1903 I7 8700k GTX 1080 436.48 drivers

I'm having the same issue. Currently playing on the base game with no expansions. Specs: Windows 10 Pro 1803 I7 4770K @ 3.5 GHz EVGA GTX 980 Ti FTW 16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz If I check the errors in the Windows log I see this error: [quote]The program destiny2.exe version 12787.0.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. Can second that one. The freezing started after Shadowkeep update and is happening only on transitions (going to orbit / loading quests / ending matches). It's somewhat less frequent when windowed, but the screen begins to flicker in it, duh. i5-3550 @ 3.30 GHz, RTX 2080, 16 Gb DDR3

1 ReplyI'm Freezing percentage is at a 85% at each of those points... which basically means, despite what Steam thinks (it says I've played for 10 hours) I have yet to actually enter a planet and do something while on PC. So, as Steam keeps track, I've dedicated about 10 hours of my life to trying to get into the game. This is a brand new account for this game-- I never had a Steam account prior to Destiny 2. It does have the Cross-save enabled, but that seemed to work fine, since the two or three times I actually made it to the part where you select characters, all three were there at their powerlevels and my titan had all his stuff. Beyond that I couldn't say because I haven't been able to explore. CPU - Intel Core i7-7700HQ @2.80 Ghz GPU - Nvidia GTX 1050ti 4GB Ram - 16 GB DDR4 I've reinstalled and validated every things --- the game, steam, etc. And its the only game that gives me this problem. I have no problem bringing up Gears of War 5
