Same. I'm having the exact thing (you just stuck at a black screen?) you describe.

I performed a total uninstall (removed all traces, including temp and old files), shut down and startup of my PC and a new install to a new directory and I got a good 30 minutes of different activities but it ultimately it crashed again.

Yeah that's usually what happens, a black screen during the transition. Occasionally it'll be frozen on the last frame before the fade to black, but that's rarer than just the black screen.
