Arbelast is a go-to choice for the Zero Hour mission (to get the Outbreak Perfected).

  • Definitely agree with you but imo risk runner is better because most of the enemies to Ar damage and it melts shields as well as enemies

  • Congratulations. That’s no small feat! I’d like to know what your full load-out was. You also missed the point. If you read more of the posts in this sub-thread, you’d have seen I also sometimes run Jotünn instead of Arbelast for Zero Hour. I’m also going to try Riskrunner soon. The point isn’t whether you can or cannot use Arbelast for Zero Hour. The point is, I — and lots of other players — disagree with your sentiment that Arbelast is terrible everywhere. Rather, it is quantitatively a very good gun for some situations, notably when you need to pop all shield flavors in the least time possible. Such is the case for Zero Hour for other players. Well done for being better than the pack at running Zero Hour. We could all benefit from learning what exactly you run for it.

  • Not really worth using your exotic slot for that Any other guns or ability let you melt every shields. And if you want to match the shields at all costs switch your energy gun at each room since there is mainly 1 element per room. And you are free to use a 267times better exotic
Any other guns or ability let you melt every shields.
That is categorically false. Arbelast specifically destroys every shield regardless its energy type. It 1-2 shots every target that matters in Zero Hour, notably the very high number of shielded Shanks and Captains.
And if you want to match the shields at all costs switch your energy gun at each room since there is mainly 1 element per room.
This is a terrible suggestion. You lose your special ammo when you switch special weapons — nullifying your ability to manage enemy shields — which is crucial for the speed that players need in Zero Hour.
And you are free to use a 267times better exotic
That is an oddly specific, exaggerated number. Sorry, Arbelast is a very good option for Zero Hour where shield, ammo, and time management are crucial for success. That is, if you can land your shots with it. I can, so it works extremely well for me. I never said Arbelast is the only option. I have also run Zero Hour with Jötunn. For the most part, it is capable of “ignoring” shields, too, in a way. That said, Arbelast feels more ammo efficient for the same purpose. For Jötunn, I really must be sure to run a Special Ammo Finder to keep feeding it. Please share which specific exotics you have honestly run through Zero Hour yourself and how each one was specifically better. We can all benefit from your remarkable experience. I checked your Game History. You have indeed played Zero Hour normal and heroic quite a lot! Honestly even more than me. So, as an expert, what guns do you actually run it with? The Game History I have access to doesn’t show that level of detail and I for one would like to improve my own ability to carry others to their Outbreak Perfecteds, and Catalysts (which I haven’t yet dared). If you know it, please include what Aka runs the mission with in your fireteam. They seem to do most of the heavy lifting in your most recent Zero Hour runs.

  • Arbalest may work but ive been using A LOT of different loadouts to solo or carry the outbreak mission and it wasnt the best run when i used arbalest. (Turned out that using sidearms against shields worked insanely great btw so thats funny) Arbalest may destroy shields...but it dont proc the elemental explosions so you are using a ton of ammo where you could just pop one shield then the others explodes too. Besides...1-2 shots of a special weapon just to pop a shield is a terrible deal. --- Now for the switching weapon thing, you may lose special ammo yup...then simple reason i do that : my secondary slot is used by primaries elemental weapons. (Switching between 3 different handcanons, sidearms..smgs..scouts..etc) Works insanely great. I also ALWAYS run with fallen mods so i basically have infite grenades and heavy ammo so i can use a good exotic heavy weapon such as tractor canon to melt trough adds and going even faster. (Gotta love going trough the first fight section with the capitains in 10seconds XD) And for the kinectic slot you are free to run a shotgun or a sniper to kill the tenebrions after a tractor canon shot. (Litteraly takes around 9 vanguard shotgun shots to take down a tenebrion) So with snipers its even easier now ^^. Arbalest isnt especially BAD, its more...hummm not worth its exotic slot, its perk isnt as awesome as most exotic heavies or even special weapons. If the arbalest perk was by default on linear fusion riffles it wouldnt even break the game considering how easy it is to break shields. (You even have some perks on shotguns and snipers allowing you to basically have infite ammo if you use them to destroy shields) And even solo doing those kind of runs i have enough time to go pee and still finish the run. So as a team...well...

  • P.S. for non-Françias (French) readers of this thread: In Destiny, “Tenebrion” = “Spider Tank”.

Awesome advice, especially the bit about running Fallen mods! I just had a “Why didn’t think of that!” moment. LOL I’ll mix up my Zero Hour load-out based on all of your tips and see how it works out. Thank you for sharing all this detail! :D

  • If arbalest works for you you can keep using it. I was just telling it wasnt the most viable option

  • I ran it with a hunter and lucky raspberry, that loadout really destroyed the mission.

  • I gotta’ say, playing Zero Hour as a Hunter makes the fans section HARD! Kudos for each Hunter completion! For me, fans is SO much easier to glide through the slots and back as a Warlock or Titan. In fact, I prefer to run it as Titan where I pass through two fans at a time. I just have a super hard time at the huge outside wall drop without the extended platform as both Titan and Hunter. THAT section seems like it was MADE for Warlocks. :)
