I get on the forums everyday just to see what new posts there are, and all i see are mostly negative posts. I get that the forums are for feedback, be it positive or negative. It just seems like people like to complain just to complain. I don't get why nobody seems to want to play video games just to play. It's not just destiny either, I see articles and what not about the new ghost recon, or borderlands 3, or whatever the newest game is saying how bad it is because of X reason.
I get with d2 there are some flaws with loot, mechanics, crucible, eververse, bugs and whatnot. When I get on and play I just do random stuff. Usually I'll run patrols just to shoot stuff until I feel like switching it up and do bounties or play crucible or gambit or strikes. I think the main issue is that when something new comes out most people feel like they have to rush and speed run thru everything, then get bored cuz there's nothing left for them to do. It would be nice to actually see people on the moon, but since everyone seems to have rushed now there's barely anyone there. Maybe one day people will just play to play.

I'm pretty much the same way. In the long run Patrol is the most fun part for me. Though I did like the adventures and I wish I could replay them more freely.
-
cant enjoy a game if the content isnt fun, so people ask (or complain) for change
-
Peoples are just different. That's all there is. Personally I can't play a game just for fun, games I know are great like minecraft. I can't play that game for more than 5 mins without getting bored, you can't 'win' that game, there are no 'objectives'. Then we have Destiny which has more charts and meters than you can shake a stick at, when I complete quests and start filling up all those progression bars it makes me feel like I've achieved something.

Edited by Grzzld-Gamer: 10/10/2019 11:03:41 PMThey do. Don't mix up the gamers from the gamer/forum gamers. Many of the folks on the forum are here because this is another type of game for them altogether. There's even folks here that DONT even play the game but troll the forums! I used to do Warhammer 40k miniaturtes and would hear some other 40k gamers talk about the GW stocks and who was/is CEO and annual report blah blash blah.... Completely different types of gamers.... To each their own.

People do play games just to play, for fun. Lots of people. However, people that just want to play and have fun don't come to the boards to whine about the fun they are having. 98% of what you will find here are idiots, people suffering the after effects of a rage quit, people with an axe to grind, or trolls. Maybe 1% is actual decent feedback, and 1% just fun/helpful posts. Coming here for fun is like going to the bar to find a mate. Yeah, it happens every now and then, but you'll find way more fights and dissapointment more likely.

It’s cause players don’t wanna be left behind, the game has become a chore/job practically. I remember the days when shooting aliens was a good enough, those days are over with.

This is the problem. Most of the playerbase wants instant gratification. We need to enjoy the journey.

Typically what I do then sometimes think of something dumb and summon a friend to do dumb things with more people

Edited by TheShadow-cali: 10/10/2019 12:17:24 PMYou mean you don't see why the ones that are on this forum don't want to play just to play. Pac-man is a game you play just to play. It uses to be you go to your arcade and see what the top score was and you would try to beat it. You didn't have a care in the world of what Pac-man looked like, there wasn't a Pac-eververse, there were no "special emblems", there were no streamers dictating, there was no team nerfing anything and the list goes on. You played just to play.

Edited by blade329: 10/10/2019 9:13:24 PM
Why don't people play games just to play?
LOL. In Destiny? If you came to Destiny just to run around and shoot stuff, you will be bored silly in a about a week or so.

It's not what it used to be. And don't get your hopes up games like this are only going to get more competitive not less. It's adapt or die has been for awhile with the rise of youtube and twitch

Edited by Tru-Zrue: 10/10/2019 7:05:14 PMYou come to these forums everyday and wonder why players don't play "games" just for fun? Gotta be specific, this game. Some of us do games for fun, but this one is missing that fun factor in areas it need it. Imo.... There isn't a lot of fun you could have in a live serviced game like this. Where core systems change like a woman who can't decide what outfit she want to wear... just to GO TO THE MOVIES JESSIE....where was I oh Especially if your a solo player. And I know I'll get those idiots saying "well this isn't a solo game" knowing (or not knowing) other MMOs have solo egc and in this game the main part of it is solo(campaigns)... So shouldn't it be all or nothing? Me personality, I understand the evolving world part of it, but changing core systems like infusion economy and MW cores and places to get powerful makes me hate playing every season. Not to mention power increases with no increase to endgame difficulty and rewards. It just got really old to me. Idk it could be different this season, but I'm too drained to test it. ... And if a gotdamn fully price game is bad and you bought it, you damn sure better say something. Edit: bl3 was fun.

Edited by Seraph: 10/10/2019 11:09:12 AMI'm gonna assume that you are ( relatively ) young. When you get older, and you gain more and more responsibilities, time becomes the most precious commodity that you have, and noone wants to waste there time on a sisyphean activity. For a lot of gamers, its important to have a sense of progress, even if that sense is just an illusion, and there have many times where that sense of progress has been lacking in Destiny.

Edited by Reclaimer: 10/10/2019 7:37:56 PMI’m not really sure. It saddens me how eager this community seems when it comes to being toxic, immature, and pointlessly hostile. Every now and then, I pop my head in here and browse just to see what everyone’s talking about. And it’s almost always filled with bickering and people insulting one another. It’s pretty sad. Not in an insulting way, but in the “you’re all better than this” kind of way. It’s genuinely disappointing. People can’t seem to find tasteful ways to express their displeasure, so they just lash out at each other. It sucks. I really wish it wasn’t so. I dislike feeling alienated from a community I’m apart of. I purposely isolate myself from it just because I don’t want any of that negativity in what’s supposed to be a respite or outlet. I want to interact with the people in it, talk to/meet/play with new people, but everyone just seems to be *looking* for a reason to argue or complain. This game obviously has no shortage of problems, but this isn’t how people should deal with them.

Edited by Divine_Majin93: 10/10/2019 1:38:31 PMI don't know what Antartica servers y'all play on, but I see people on the Moon every time I play. This is coming from a player who hasn't bought into Y3. As for fun, fun is subjective. To some, it's making a living playing video games and being a shill. There are people whose sole purpose to play is to be the first ones to complete the new things. To others, it's buying the most responsive and custom controllers so they can play PvP modes with semi-unfair advantages (usually on console) until their body runs out of sweat and requires desperate hydration. For others, it's to play as much as possible to collect all the things. Also, there's people like me, who play to get only the best gear to decimate the bad guys with because we like RPG Power Fantasy. And there's just people who like play shooty game make bad guys go dead with pew pew. Everyone plays for fun. But fun is different for every individual. Edit: spell check

Well, the ghost recon game is practically broken and built entirely round monetisation. It's designed to make 'just playing it' to be a frustrating and unrewarding experience unless you pay more money. Not to mention destiny is a looter, the whole point of it is to get loot, not just play it. It's not a single player regular campaign or with co-op. Those games still exist and people just play them fine.

Edited by DadKev: 10/10/2019 1:52:46 PMI would add that players don't seem to play to enjoy themselves or have fun. They need to keep up with everyone else, get all the latest stuff, be at the highest level. Somehow pride in their accomplishments and their standing in society come from a video game. I guess if you flip burgers for a living or live in your parents basement, you may need to do that.

It’s just not that simple. As others have pointed out. And calling it negative. Well that’s just a different point of view isn’t. And if it seems there is more of one than the other. Than that’s what you call a majority. And the true majority have already left in the millions and millions. The ones still hanging on are the ones that USED to be very passionate about the game. The ones that watch the great game they once had slip away. So they come here pleading hoping maybe just maybe their game might return to its former glory. Now some may articulate it harsher words than others. But the sum is equal to the whole. The game went on a direction millions didn’t follow. If you only had half of the old community replying here you would have about 7,000,000 replies......but they left.

we do but this game revolves around repeating the game over and over so its gets really really boring without progression mechanics to make it feel 'worthwhile' sadly shadowkeep is now 3 years of repeating the same crap mostly

I would just ignore the forums and just do your own thing. Whatever you enjoy. Bungie doesn't do a great job of moderating the forums. It's just trolls left and right. This is like a very small portion of players anyway. Most people don't check forums because it's been a cesspool for years.

Edited by Maskerader: 10/10/2019 3:46:19 AMThat game wasn't made to be played "just to play". It's filled with mechanics that drive you into a specific mindset of getting things done and not falling behind. Fear of missing out, time-limited rewards and events, time-gating, feeling of competition, etc. And then there's grind and gazzillion of resources and limits to keep you busy for the sake of it. Compare this to Borderlands 1/2, for example. Nothing was pressing you there, at all. Play however you want, as much or as little as you want. Play a whole week long or only a day a month - you're not losing or gaining anything. These are kind of games that were made to be played just to play.

Competition...
