Changes to Heavy Ammo in the Crucible

Due to recent feedback asking for a reduction in the amount of Heavy ammo available in Crucible we are issuing a server-side change to the following modes. These changes should be live now! Control will now have heavy ammo spawn in at 45 seconds and then every 120 seconds. It was spawning in at 45 seconds and then every 60 seconds. Clash and Supremacy will now have heavy ammo spawn in at 60 seconds and then every 120 seconds. It was spawning in at 15 seconds and then every 60 seconds. We don’t have server-side settings to change up the new 3v3 Survival mode but do plan to make the following changes in an update later this month. Survival will soon have heavy ammo spawn in at 60 seconds and then again 60 seconds later just as the tiebreaker objective spawns. It is currently spawning in at 30 seconds and then every 60 seconds. The amount of heavy ammo granted will be reduced to match the amounts in Elimination and the 6v6 modes. We saw a lot of feedback about making heavy one round or being removed but wanted to make sure there was still an incentive for players to maintain map control and not camp at the edge of the map once they have a life advantage. We will continue to monitor feedback on these changes.

          • Just completely get rid of heavy ammo in competitive. The whole point of comp is to test gun skill, not to see who can camp heavy ammo spawn the best and then get 3+ free kills with Truth.

Matchmaking is absolutely horrible right now! Melee hit marking is horrible, not doing any damage to other players in crucible, shot through walls, supers suck now, you nerfed weapons and perks that really aren't a problem. Take a look at erentil and jotunn! But hey I'm glad I can shop at eververse with out having to go to the tower! Thank god for that quality of life change! Lol

              • Im running into teams using jotun / mountaintop combo so they can spawn in & get easy heavy ammo kills & load up their rocket launcher & get more easy heavy ammo kills I actually got matched against 3 warlocks using this loadout in the freelance playlist on the same team .. talk about coordinated randoms lol Ill never play the comp playlist again after ive completed the not forgotten quest if i even can when im running into the teams using overpowered subclass’s with triple heavy weapon loadouts as soon as i come close to mythic 3 ....

                Glad to see you do some changes. However, the incentive of heavy ammo only works for Clash. Which you could just remove this mode since it has a good deal of heavy ammo camping, i.e. people want to CONTROL that point. I mean you already have 2 Clash setups. One for the regular weapons, and the rocket launcher one. To balance PvP, this is a good start. Looking at how things go, there are two other things that would improve it as well. 1) Disable all exotics in PvP. 2) Make resilience useful. I've stacked this from 50 to almost 100 and have not seen any noticeable difference in the amount of damage it takes to kill me. Especially in PvP, where even with 100, you still die in one shot. I would also suggest a decrease in Hand Cannon range. These should be on par with the range of shotguns. Sure, they pack a punch, but only at close range. To make them effective at long range, they would need a 24 to 36 inch barrel. But I can let this slide, because that would be to much realism for this type of weapon, and would likely garner a lot of salt if this change were made.

                • On behalf of all the spoilt little brats and keyboard warriors whinging below, who don't appear to have any manners or social etiquette..... Thank you for taking steps towards dealing with the heavy ammo "issues" some people seem to be struggling with. You could've ignored the cry babies but you chose to try to appease them....                   • Weak sauce , if they scared of the heavy to bad. Heavey ammo makes it a even playing field for all these try hards put there. They dont want there pretty little KD's tarnished. More heavy ammo give the maybe not so great players a way to even the filed if its them aginst 3 try hard and there teams down. I say the more rhe better. D1 style. The crucible is a joke its sweaty as a WWF locker room

                      • Cozmo You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

                      • TAKE IT OUT OF COMP. People are going to camp heavy if its there or they're going to camp and lane with snipers like they already do anyway.....Literally nothing competitive about heavy ammo spawns. The better team is going to get heavy every spawn anyway. Therefore you're giving the better team a stronger advantage each round with that.

                      • There is nothing competitive about heavy ammo. There is nothing competitive about a tracking rocket that blows up if you are in proximity, there is nothing competitive about tracking grenade launchers.

                        • I think this is fine. To everyone whose complaining about heavy and special i think you should give it more thought before complaining. Yes theres a lot more heavy gunplay in competitive type modes then in y1 destiny, but what cozmo said made sense. As a trials player back in y1 people would camp indefintely nearly every round except for heavy round, so when heavy is in play every round then youre forced to not play that one way throughout the entirety of the match. Also for those complaining about special ammo idk what youre complaining about. You kill someone and you get their special, stay alive and kill enough people and you can have so much special ammo that youll even have some in reserves. So youre not lacking for special so long as youre not playing extremely passively.

                            Changes are not enough. D2 has long had a heavy ammo problem. It should spawn twice a match maximum in 6v6. And BOTH teams should get it. Otherwise crucible is an unbalanced mess. And one round in survival and elim.
