Armor 2.0 twitch recap

From today's stream: Intellect, discipline and strength are all back alongside recovery, agility and resilience. These 6 stats cap at 100 each. Each armor gives varying points towards this cap (some more strength, some more intellect, etc) Armor mods - each armor has 3 slots for mods. These mods cost varying amounts of energy. Each armor has 10 energy when maxed out with enhancement cores. Exotics can be pulled from collections and will be 2.0 versions with a set roll or exotic armor dropping post shadowkeep will be 2.0 and have random rolls. Mods like enhanced perks or ones that are very general such as heavy arms loader cost more then specific ones like rocket launcher loader. Mods such as intellect mods cost 5 while grenades cost 4, enhanced sniper unflinching coats 6 while things like fastball cost 2. You can buy mods from the gunsmith, get them from gunsmith packages, world engrams, iron banner and the raid. Some of the ornaments you can equip were the dawning gear, optimacy set, rare and common solstice sets, curse of osiris and warmind eververse sets. Each armor piece focuses on different things Helmets: targeting perks Gloves: loader perks Chest: unflinching perks Boots: scavenger perks Class item: remote connection, light reactor, pump action The game wont allow you to pick double anything that wont stack so you can't for example use double shotgun scavenger on your boots. Maxing your armor gives a +2 boost to all stats. Side things: Glimmer cap raised to 250,000 Artifacts are back Sparrow and ghost will now appear on screen alongside your guardian in the menu Some gear was 810 power New economy items: enhancement prisims and ascendant shards to max armor Enhancment cores and other materials like it will drop from more sources. Nightstalker bottom tree buff: smoke bombs make allies invis, grenade damage charges melee cooldown, targets hit by tether or while your invis gives you the "heart of the pack" buff which increase handling and agility and resilience. Y1 and Y2 armor will drop with 2.0 perks, the vendors have been updated and will be selling 2.0 armor with a set roll. Legendary armor in the collections will be getting a set roll so you may rebuy them. When viewing allies instead of a light level it will now display a class symbol allowing you to quickly see what your fireteam is playing as. Weapons of light is back - 15 seconds per bubble entry Link to watch it yourself:

  • I'm so glad Bungie finally gave us something worth playing for. this armor 2.0 is just the tip of the iceberg. Starting to feel MMOish like it should of been from day 1. At the same time I understand the frustrations with others and the lack of time. I'm married with children, and still manage to get all done so I don't have to much remorse, it's quite simple, if it's to grindy then there's always anthem. But Bravo Bungie for coming through with just the armor.

    • Also, leveling will take forever as there will be no prime engrams until level 900. I don’t think all these changes are gonna be the as great as Bungie is making them out to be, with way more grind and very little reward.

        • Sad thing is that in PVE, gear, and gear`s stats and perks are meaningless. You can do everything with blue garbage the same way like with pinnacle/godroll/exotic. Challenge comes only from weird and annoying restrictions like timers, childish ball games and other raid like shit.

I started to watch the stream and I switched it off for one simple reason......that fkn lazy ass unprofessional dev in the middle in her pjs with her stinking fkn feet on the table. Basic hygiene in the workplace. I’d have sacked her on the spot for that!

            • Thanks for the summary! I couldn't watch the whole video, between seeing DeeJ run the same show for the umpteenth time and mademoiselle ratty PJ's I just couldn't go on. Man, it must be pretty bad at Bungie post Activision when the PR blitz doesn't have a budget for normal clothes or a fresh script.

I was actually looking forward to Shadowkeep before I watched the stream. Even more materials and currency required to upgrade armor 👎 Mods are tied to elements 👎 Enhanced perks found in Raid and Iron Banner 👎 The Bungie employee sitting in the middle had her feet up on the table 👎 Put me right off ☹️

              • Armor 2.0 is a scam just like this DLC is. You're all being sold LEFT OVERS from the cutting room floor (we expanded the moon!) and reskinned armor you'll earn again as 2.0 armor. Solstice was just the beginning. I'm gonna give it 2-3 weeks past release to make a decision. Definitely not getting fd over here and signs look baaaad.

              • Thanks for the recap. Really well summarized guardian. That being said seems like wasted development t to me. This doesnt improved the game in any meaningful way or create a meaningful path towards builds. It's just more stuff to grind and nodes to fill. I would take a few more armor sets, a few more weapon designs and unique items (exotics) over grinding away at armor pieces and artifacts all season. It's all just more key fragments. More useless soulless additions and currencies to an prolong an unworthy grind.

                • Be far to busy with borderlands 3 I think to even bother with all this. I mean Cmon No1 likes enhancement cores so they keep them for infusion and even add 2 more items we need to upgrade stuff. Can see the forums on meltdown within the first few weeks of release already.

I get that they are going for more of an RPG route, and that is cool for people that love RPG's. I am not one of those. I like first person shooters. The Gunfight mechanics are what brought me to Destiny, no the power and loot grinds. I will probably be looking for a different game. This new armor system is far too complex for me to be interested. I just want to shoot some Aliens... lol

                    • Can anyone confirm if we can acquire year one and two armour as 2.0 versions via collections? Because if I have to grind for it again, I will probably grind my Xbox into the dirt rather than do it all again.

While I appreciate trying to create more interesting systems for armor, they may have lost me here. I don’t want MORE currencies required to upgrade armor. I don’t even want enhancement cores required even though I have 200 of them (I hardly masterwork anything waiting for the next inevitable tedious power grind). Locking mods/armor to arc, void, solar is strictly to extend grind and nothing more, there’s no other reason for it. All my Escalation Protocol armor that became useless pretty quickly is still useless as I’m expected to grind it all out again. I’m thoroughly bored of that activity and don’t want to spend 5 weeks grinding another set out. Thanks for wasting my time. You’ve added more grind grind grind, but any of the old stuff requires me to go play stuff I’ve already done for 12-24 months and I’m quite frankly thoroughly sick of that content. Just feels like artificial grind extension to me, which after 2 years of this game, I’m just not interested in.

                            • I'm glad the sandbox lead felt comfortable enough to sit there with her feet up on the table in some dirty ass socks and pajamas. Explains quite a bit really. Sandbox lead...... This game is doomed. Couple new strikes and crucible maps won't be enough to keep me playing the 2 year old content for another 3 seasons. If they're not adding a pvp forge and more custom game options then this will be all for me. Feelin pretty bummed.

It's great to see deeper customization for armor (even though it seems incredibly... detailed), but is anyone else worried that Bungie is getting a little lost in the weeds with these min/max features instead of showing us the actual bigger plan they have for Destiny? I understand this is about Armor 2.0, but I keep getting the creeping feeling they're focusing a lot on the fine details which is why we never hear anything about the overarching narrative. I know Destiny 3 is somewhere in the future and the "plan" is to make an "Action MMO" and go deeper into the RPG elements, but just throwing together more and more complicated grind and stat adjustments doesn't make a complete game. I bought Destiny to play in the world of Destiny, not to participate in the ongoing beta test of an RPG grind simulator. It just feels like they're asking us to focus on these details in the desperate hope that by the end of it we'll be so preoccupied we won't notice there isn't an actual game anymore.

                                  • Thanks for the recap and link, I've really fallen off Destiny lately and forgot about this. It seems to me like they're massively overcomplicating this new armour system and that will just create problems down the line. Otherwise it seems cool, but the real test will be in material availability. If its too hard to get cores, shards, prisms and whatever else we'll need then I can see a storm approaching bigger than the "remover Enhancement cores from infusion" debacle.

                                  • And so the depth turns into micro Stat managing for diminishing returns while the gameplay stagnates. Yay. What a failure this DLC is turning out to be.

                                  • Armor 2.0 should have been in the game since day one. Now every single armor piece we have becomes useless. All those cores used to masterwork current gear, wasted. Everything needs to be dismantled to make room now because once again Bungie made it obsolete. Everything needs to be re-farmed, AGAIN, or pulled from our collections. But lots of gear can't be re acquired from collections inless Bungie is changing that so we can re acquire everything now. This whole update is a giant cluster -blam!- and a massive middle finger to anyone who has been playing the game for a while. Grind everything all over again for the tenth time. yaaaaaaaaaaaay.........
