Anyone else notice the grinding for everything is ruining Destiny

Everything is farming Majority are not even finishing the events or they collect the specific farm item then go afk or just flat out leave. I am sure some genius was paid alot of money to think up quest steps to promote play time and I believe you have achieved that. Now incorporate that with quest steps that promote being part of a fireteam and working with teammates to complete events.

  • Every design choice is to promote purchases at Eververse, now that there is free play. Frustrating game play gets more people to buy stuff in order to avoid the grind. I just play what I enjoy and won’t chase fomo stuff.

  • Who would have known that trying to get arc orbs on void day during a solar week would be a problem? What do you expect Bungie to play test everything?

  • They should just rename this game “Destiny: Bounty Hunter” All you do in this game is endless bounties and quest steps, which arnt even real legit quest steps, just glorified bounties. Game is boring, endless bounties and quest steps; Tess bounties Crucible bounties Gambit bounties Vanguard strike bounties Ada-1 bounties Clan bounties Faction bounties “if it was still around” 🙄 Banshee bounties Planet bounties Raid bounties Calus bounties And so on and so on.... Actual quests use to be just that, a quest that gave you new missions, new objectives, new cinematic cut scenes, new story, new characters and experiences and emerged your self into the story and rewarded you with exotic weapons. Instead it’s bounties and quest steps tied to more bounties over and over. I literally logged in yesterday for the first time in weeks! Loaded into the tower, collected my post master “cool emblem” walked to old Lady, grabbed green armor pierce, read more mind numbing text based story, read up on all the endless boring quest steps. Then immediately logged off..... I just can’t anymore... this game is so unbelievably boring. Unimaginative, repetitive, recycled, relabeled content, with the same boring quest steps over and over and over. Endless boring bounties over and over.... I just can’t anymore... The fun of this game is gone. The annual/season pass was the worst thing to ever happen to this game. What made this game fun was: New Worlds to explore New areas New strikes New crucible maps New characters New weapons New armor New gear New story cinematic cute scenes with story New missions New Enemies New objectives New exotics New patrol zones New boss fights New raids New activities... Everything revolves around a lame quest step, having you do the same mindless game play you’ve done a million times, which most of it is counter productive to your fire team and other objectives, you know like winning matches in gambit, winning crucible, winning strikes and game modes. How has this game become so lost, how are the developers so blind and detached to what this game is, was, or could be? I honestly think these people don’t even play their own game, nor have they played anything in the past or learn from every single mistake!? What made this game amazing and fun was the open world fun of exploring new worlds each expansion released, seeing the new areas to visit, see the new worlds, seeing the new stories unfold with new characters and cinematic cut scenes. Instead we have mindless text based stories that you read and endless quest steps that repeat over and over.... I miss when Exotics were the only quest available and the quest was just that, an actual quest!!! A quest that takes you on an new adventure of exploring and learning and experiencing new content with new activities. Instead we get, head shot 1,000,000,000 cabal, mele 5,000,000 vex, solar ability kill 1,000,000,000 fallen, compete 500 million strikes, rinse and repeat.... I’m out.

When vendors in a looter shooter become literally only bounty place holder vs D1 being actually useful? Yep, there is something majorly wrong here. Edit: Someone asked me to make a list so I did to give an idea on how much more useful D1 vendors actually are vs D2. It's a long list.
D1. Amanda Holiday running patrol you were able to collect schematics to turn in for ships. Later she gets a full inventory of all ships you could purchase. D2. Amanda Holiday has an empty inventory. Totally useless... D1. Vanguard starting out a fresh character all of them had a full inventory. D2. Vanguard you only have Zavala that has an inventory that hasn't been updated in a year. Cayde-6 is dead and removed from the game. Ikora has an empty inventory that she is nothing but a power engram holder, totally useless. D1. Factions always had a full inventory of emblems, weapons, gear and later updated to having a rotating inventory and they were there 24-7 that they also have (class-specific items.) D2. Factions were removed over a year ago. The dumbest move this company has ever made in this game with Factions. D1. The Gunsmith always had a full inventory D2. The Gunsmith 2 whopping mods handing out hundreds and thousands of duplicates. D1. The speaker has a full inventory and you could trade material D2. He's dead and removed from the game. D1. Every DLC all of the above were updated with a fresh inventory D2. All of the above barely anything updated in 2 years. Making them Totally useless. D1. Petra had somewhat of an inventory that you could collect a ship, shaders, etc. D2. Patra is nothing but a bounty place holder that has been handing out duplicates for 2 years. D1. Eris Morn in TDB had a full inventory of Shaders, emblems, Titan mark, Warlock bond, Hunters cloak and she sold ammo, etc. D2. Eris Morn I can almost guarantee she will only be a useless bounty place holder with Shadow Keep like the rest of the vendors in this entire game. D1. Crucible court master has a full inventory, you can purchase weapons sparrows and material that was updated ever DLC. D2. No crucible court master. D1. Vanguard court master has a full inventory of weapons, sparrows and later updated to purchase material. D2. No vanguard court master. D1. Shaxx had an inventory but was updated every DLC. D2. Shaxx hasn't been updated in a year other than quest like D1 had. D1. Variks has a full inventory of Amor, ships, shaders, ammo, Titan mark... and the material with a weapon that all of that was on a rotating system. D2. You don't have anything like that for any activity in the entire game. You run bounties and while running an activity like gambit hoping the wonderfull RNG will be in your favor.
All of this and I didn't even add ROI vendors. Most vendors in D1 you could triad with or purchase certain items like ammo that the price varied in material/ glimmer. In D2 the vendors are totally useless or nothing but bounty place holders. D2, the only vendor that is kind of useful when it comes to material that happens to be the only vendor that you can get material from is Spider, and the cost for things are too high.

      • Yep I noticed this direction back after Forsaken released and then proceeded to leave the game after Black Armory released. I have no intention of plying a boring grind in which I only see minimal results from every week. And before anyone comments about not wanting to grind I played D1 since Day 1 and got all my characters to max and they was because it was a fun and awesome grind that didn’t feel like a second job. Also when I grinder I felt like I was progressing unlike with Destiny 2 where I friended for a week only to get up 2 LL cause I would keep getting the same armor piece due to how bad the looting is.

      • The problem is everything is so repetitive. Kill 100 mini bosses in EAZ. Open 50 chests in EAZ. Complete 10 matches in Gambit. Its boring, especially if u want to do it 3 times, which incidentally is flawed as it requires 3 different classes to earn the sparrow. Meaning if u run say 2 hunters, u need to delete one of them. They should have made some of the story missions heroic again like they did the last time, but add a clause like kill 10 Fallen captains or kill the boss with sidearm damage only. Make it difficult. This isn't difficult. Its just..... boring.

            • Grinding is the issue. Thing have specific objectives, as you progress the specific things you can do or access can improve your ability to gain anything in game. I've slayed how many gods now but I can't find a source of masterwork cores that isn't laughably doubling in price to middle finger the players? Yes how dare I play my game, Bungie. -blam!- you.

            • I used to do strikes in D1 for fun. In Dedtiny 2, I dread them. Somehow the fun was taken out of them. And Bungie also tries to make me do them, often.

            • Honestly i didn't mind the grind in the original Destiny because the game kept me amused. Destiny 2 on the other hand is not rewarding, it's lost its spark and everything feels like a chore. The constant nerfs, removal of systems and the "add content then abandon it" attitude is also extremely annoying. They do NOT listen to the community and you can see that with the enhancement core situation and the lack of communication on here and on social media. Also the silence over the backlash to the solstice event and it's bloody ridiculous requirements is a joke.
Anyone else notice the grinding for everything is ruining Destiny
Yeah, everybody notices that except youtubers, streamers, hardcores and Bungie fanboys. In other words, probably 75% of whole players notices it.

              • Its not just the solstice gear it's everything anymore. The Pinnacle weapons for crucible require certain ranks or time put in of which some ppl can't put in the time or can't find help and solo que in comp just doesn't workout. I have to choose now between giving my money to bungie for shadowkeep or paying someone idk for help getting recluse because someone thought it would be a great idea to make it a triumph in season 7. Maybe I should start trying to make money off the game like several others are doing, maybe then something will be done about it.

              • The grinding didn’t ruin Destiny, this grind could be fun. Bungie needs to pull way the f$&k back on absolutely pointless quest steps like 100 mini boss kills. They have taken the grind to an unhealthy level.

              • I don’t see why its hard to make a fun grind on this game? The menagerie is actually a worthy grind, you play the event, you Then unlock enough coins to upgrade the chalice to then unlock perks and better gear. Doing the menagerie itself is actually not bad, I only hate how long it takes to finish them but thats it. This new eaz thing going on is actually really cool, all bungie had to do is let players upgrade the solstice armors by playing the game and enjoying the event. Giving us a boring 100 miniboss just kills the fun out of whats supposed to be a game

              • I'll never understand the people who defend it. D1 had the grind but if you didn't want to live and breathe that, you could still enjoy the game. That's not the case in D2 Y2. You can't even use 9/10ths of what you get unless you constantly grind upkeep costs. Played 2300 hours of D1. Played 850 hours of D2 Y1. Basically stopped playing when SotD came out. I loved playing because I enjoyed the content itself, the movement, weapons, classes, strikes, etc. Now none of that matters, it's all about forever replacing everything you have. And for all those acting like this shit is normal, I don't remember having to forever grind Halo to be able to enjoy it. I played it because the gameplay was FUN.

                • Some fool(s) in the dev team thought it was a good idea to start d2 from scratch rather than to build upon the incredible system we had in d1 y3 post roi. Look at what we have now. A d2 trying to be a d1. Notice how we have so many things from d1? Hardly any new ideas for d2? Imagine how far we'd be into d2 if they didn't give it the guillotine treatment. Are people really expecting anything good out of this game?

Destiny doesnt have enough gameplay mechanics to keep it interesting for the long span that people seem to expect. Look at most big name, popular MMOs; they all have side activities and pasttimes, like crafting or pet maintenance, that give you a break from doing the same thing while still being able to play the same game, and be "productive" in-game. As fun as the gunplay in this game is, everyone would get bored of it eventually. This game needs more SRLs. it needs more activities that break up the running and shooting with an activity that is different yet still rewarding. The only thing that keeps people playing other MMOs is the fact that after a few hours of mindlessly slaying monsters, you can swap to your pickaxe and mindlessly mine ore for a few more hours and use that ore to spend a few more hours mindlessly crafting armor/weapons that you want

                  • College kids and people without jobs complained it was " too casual" ie : lacking in grind- that was killing it season 1.. and not the fact that there was no content for solo players for end game because of raids and nightfall being locked to premades. So They have now made sure to just ramp up grind for no reason but also put some of it behind timegates. Which leads to F.O.M.O - Fear of Missing Out. And when you build an entire endgame around people not being able to get their moneys worth out of it unless they OBSESSIVELY Play it and level 3 characters, you are doing your game wrong. Even WOW doesnt expect this from people any more.

                      • Farming isnt the issue. The issue is bungie forcing players to do X activity with Y load out a dozen or more times. Ex: i just did 4 strikes to get arc orbs, and i have only received 82 orbs, out of 500. That is what makes destiny unfun. That and them time gating every activity. “Oh you want jotunn, good luck with only 2 runs a week”
