The problem is that someone in the sandbox is deliberately keeping SRs underpowered in an effort to force more "dynamic" play. IN otherwords to force people to fight more aggressively and act closer range. Its why SRs are underpowered.....why sniper rifles are underpowered in PVE....and why the most powerful heavy weapons right now are grenade launchers. The heavy that (other than swords) require to get closest to your target.

  • No, I don't agree with this. As myself and other have attempted to point out - Scout Rifles have the same values across the board as they did in Destiny(1) when it comes to PvP. The reason they are not used is not because they were nerfed, they haven't been touched in PvP - it's because Pulse Rifles and Hand Cannons were given massive increases to their effective range compared to their D1 counterparts.

  • 1. I’m talking mainly pve. 2. I linked a Polygon article where on of Bungie’s devs stated that scouts “will always lag behind other weapon classes because of the safety their range affords them”.

There's validity behind what they're trying to do, even if a dev made it sound very wrong. In the first Destiny, there was a problem that Strikes and other difficult encounters faced - with the right weapons such as a super powerful scout or the infamous Ice Breaker, you could just avoid the fight all together and hang back in a nook, hammering at the boss until they're dead. While I agree with them that this is a bad way to have a game, there are ways around it besides just making it so that a weapon class is invalidated.

  • Deliberately handicapping passive playstyles? Wouldn't be surprised.

https://www.polygon.com/2019/1/18/18188322/destiny-2-patch-notes-update-2-1-4 "Regarding scout rifles specifically, Anderson wrote that slower- and faster-firing variants will all see bumps in damage. That said, he did mention that scout rifles will always lag behind the other weapon types in Destiny 2, “due to the safety that their range affords you.” I think the quote speaks for itself.

  • Ah, I see. Handicapping. Opinionated weapon tuning instead of analytical. Boy that burns my biscuits.
