Funny you asked. Because I just posted this on another thread.

THIS....is how most people experience Quickplay and The Crucible right now. It is a miserable, controller-breaking slog produced by the lack of any skill matching....and bad game design. So every match is basically this irresistable snowball of team shooting that turns into special weapon spam....that turns into power weapon spam....that turns into super spam.
Rinse and repeat.
So about 75% of games are lopsided blowouts...and all that happens is you go back and forth as to which side of the blowout your on.
But when you are on the recieving end of it...there if verly little you can do about it. You just get caught up in this wave of unpreventable deaths.
I got spawned into a QP match two weeks ago after someone had rage-quit. I put up a 0.18 Kda. Which means I got two kills....and died 11 times.
WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I DIED TO PRIMARY WEAPON IN THAT SHITSHOW?
Once.
What happened is that I got supered 6 times. Shotgunned (in the back) three times. Shoulder charged (in the back) once. And then lost an actual gunfight once.....to a guy with Luna's Howl.
I was readly to break my controller by the end. I don't understand how any one can all this one-dimenisional, lopsideded and predictable expereince to be "fun". Regardless of which side of the blowouts you happen to be on.
every match is basically this irresistable snowball of team shooting that turns into special weapon spam....that turns into power weapon spam....that turns into super spam.
Complaining about team shooting, special weapons, power weapons AND supers. It sounds like you’re just bad at Destiny pvp to be honest.
-
No. I'm not. I was a 1.25 KD player in Destiny 1 PVP which put me in the Top 20% of PVP players. The fact is that Destiny 1 PVP was a game that was balanced around counter play. So while you had snowball mechanics that would allow a strong team to run away with a match. You also had "catch-up" mechanics that would allow a losing team to fight their way back into a match, or allow a strong player to carry a weak team of randoms. In an failed effort to turn The Crucible into an e-sport....that balance was taken away...and those catch-up mechanics were taken out. So all that's left are snowball mechanics. The result is that half the matches are blowouts. One side gets an early advantage....then just leverages one snowball mechanic after another to steamroll to an easy win. ...and all you do is go from one side of the blowout to the other. ...and NEITHER side of it is particularly fun.
-
A couple days ago I was in a match against a decent team which was almost a mercy... I was playing solo, and ended up leading my team to a win. It’s not true that you can’t come back. You can, and often do. https://destinytracker.com/d2/pgcr/4305797646
-
...and how OFTEN do you do that. compared to the 50 to 100 point blowout.
-
I would say a good percentage of my matches are not blowouts either way. Sometimes I lead the way, sometimes I try not to die. Usually they are very close unless we are playing a 5 or 6 stack.
-
Then you are either very lucky..... ...or one of the Top 10%.
-
Top 10%? Definitely not lol... Lucky? Sometimes, but usually not so much. 🙂
-
Yeah I hate that it feels like mayhem. 12 players often popping two supers a game. 24 supers going off every match, heavy spawns all match long...
-
It’s m no pvp god. 1.0 overall kd. I have fun most times in crucible. Sure I get stomped at times but I maintain at least close to 1.0 nearly every match by just adjusting when I see things like you are explaining happen. I see a super pop I run from it unless I have heavy or a counter super. It’s really not too bad 90% of the time. I think people have a bad run and vent in forums.
-
Its not a "bad run". Its bad design. The game used to give you options where---with skillful play---you could counter a super without having to run and hide. In fact the fact that the only option in dealing with Sunbreaker 1.0 when it was added with The Taken King....was the reason why it got nerfed. But in Destiny 2 EVERY roaming super is that overpowered relative to special weapons and primary weapons.....and it makes the game a miserable experience. Especially when the game is starving the losing team of special ammo ON TOP of not having supers and not having access to power ammo.

Lord of Wolves. Let the tears flow!

Edited by TheArtist: 7/18/2019 9:01:28 PMDoesn't bother me. After dealing with fusion rifle users in D1, LoWs doesn't even rate as an annoyance. You just stay beyond its reach. But it is one of the few weapons in D2 that can shut down a roaming super.
-
Oh yeah, but it melts roaming supers. Really it’s most fun perk lol
-
It is...and I think the whining about it is overblown. Its just that the weapon exposes a weakness in people's game...and they're crying like schoolgirls over it.
-
Yep! I don’t use it much. Haven’t touched it in two weeks, but it is fun and melts in pve. Hate they are needing a good pve weapon again.

This.

I think you need to take a look at my game history. You'll see that I'm finishing in the Top Three in most of my Rumble matches. Where you actually get into 1v1s with primaries....instead of getting team shot 90%% of the time. Want to try again??

If its red prepare to engage, but be sure to have a way out if the rest of the gang pops up. Also with Lunas and NF having a peak ttk of .8 and a body of like 1.6 just use any 450 pulse with kill clip. .43 ttk with more range. Lunas falls off fast now without the massive damage shot overtaking the range fall off.

I understand the weapons. The issue is the nature of quick play and the lack of skill matching. Sweaties use QP to stat farm and work on bouties for pinnacle weapons.

Preach.

Edited by pacificdune: 7/18/2019 5:27:17 AMI’m enjoying pvp and particularly QP in the game now more than at any time in the past. I’ve actually pushed my k/d up to 1.2 which is not great, but far better than the 0.9 it used to be. I sense that if I play smarter and better it is rewarded by better stats not stiffer competition. I never see lag, even at a time when the player population has been in decline. I usually just play solo. I read all of these posts but I honestly don’t understand why people are complaining. Sure, I get stomped by 6 stacks and matched against the occasional try hard, but that’s much better than the team shooting hot mess that we used to have. I dunno. Just don’t get it I guess.

Sure, I get stomped by 6 stacks and matched against the occasional try hard, but that’s much better than the team shooting hot mess that we used to have.
Not by much. ...and most of us remember what this game's PVP was like in Destiny 1...and it has gotten so much worse. Especially because of the matchmaking. Ninety percent of the problems would go away if Bungie put SBMM back in the game. Just as 90% of Gambit's problems were the result of letting PVP clan teams...and other stacked teams pubstomp. The very crude SBMM they added to Gambit has made the game MUCH more enjoyable and the matches MUCH more competitive. But it came too late to save the game mode's engagement numbers. Most people remember the bad experiences they were allowed to have...and now avoid Gambit like a bad rash.
-
Removing sbmm has made the game infinitely more enjoyable for me. Instead of being forced to always play people in my own skill range I know feel improvement as I play the game better, and I’m not talking 2.0 kd, I’m talking 1.2, which I believe anyone can do. I really think that instead of complaining people need to work on their game and improve it, because it is not hard to do. Bungie has decided to tune their matchmaking and pvp for people like myself. We like pvp and like to see ourselves improve. Tuning it for people who don’t like pvp is an oxymoron, and that’s what sbmm does. D1 was always frustrating for me in this regard. D2 current state is the best it has been.
-
Removing sbmm has made the game infinitely more enjoyable for me.
...and its had the exact opposite effect for the vast majority of players. ..and odds are you would progress FASTER by playing against people of your own skill level. Because that's how learning in real sports takes place.
