Best of year one engram and the pursuits move were bad ideas...
With the engram, you got it backwards. Year one gear should have been on rotation in the store for direct purchase, with new seasonal items being available via Opulent Engrams.
Destiny already has far too many duplicate items being earned via game play. The last thing I want is to have my time rewarded with useless year one items that I have to dismantle, to get currency to then purchase over priced items that I actually want. This was a very poor design decision.
Whomever is in charge of the games economy and loot system are doing a very poor job.
Obfuscating pursuits from the character screen is also very bad design.
The destination screen is a navigation screen. It is informational. What is CURRENTLY available for me, as a player, to do. Who is online for me, a player to interact with.
The CHARACTER screen, is all information relevant to my current character. What is it that I have. What materials have I acquired. What Bounties/Quests am I working on. It being the first thing on the inventory screen made WAY more sense. Especially considering the action involved in opening up the Destinations tab. Now, if the long press took me directly to a screen of my choosing. This might make sense. Otherwise, all you have done is to add an extra step when deciding what I am going to work on today.
It might not be quite as bad, IF, anyone at Bungie knew how to store our preferences and actually allow us to filter lists in ways that were actually useful. Having to re sort the menus every time I open them is annoying.
Honestly, this aspect of your development is atrocious.

Year 1 engrams are definately there to limit the bright dust return. Therefore, reducing purchase of items in shop. Therefore, requiring real money being spent. I don't mind, I don't spend real money on cosmetics, but it's very obvious why they've done this.

I call total BS!! Best of Year 1 Engrams only exist because Bungie are too f*ing lazy or are not capable enough to implement a mechanic which stops free-to-play guardians getting content they didn’t pay for. It is no coincidence that the Bright Engrams became Best of Year 1 Engrams at the same time Bungie announce Year 1 content will become free-to-play! I’m actually surprised that nobody seems to have pieced this together yet. Anyone who pre-orders Shadowkeep from PS Store right now gets immediate access to Year 1 content. Good for new players yes, but don’t deny existing players access to shit they already paid for.

While it’s nice to be able to get some of the loot I missed by getting in late, I’d rather the new stuff stay tied to XP gains. And the Pursuits change was bizarre. It doesn’t really make sense. When idling in orbit waiting to load into a game, I liked being able to fiddle with my gear and check on Bounties while staying on the same page. Having to leave the inventory to pull up the map and tab over is unnecessarily inconvenient.

Bungie found a way to give us nothing but crap in the engrams , like the same boringsparrow in 367 different colors, but word it in a way that sounds like they're doing it for us. So they can hide behind their "noble intentions" while deliberately pushing ppl towards spending real money for all the cool new items. That's exactly the kind of corporate bullsh****ery you need to get your employees behind such a controversial change, and if you're lucky you might even manage to convince a few naive players that it's all for them. Just think about how many changes Eververse and its business model have seen by now, and just think about how many cool armor sets and ornaments were locked behind Eververse, and you will understand how important Microtransactions are for Bungie. Nothing but money matters to this rotten company. And this will never change.

6 RepliesAgree. D2 should have been --Destiny DoOver. I don't know about anyone else, but I have a hard time getting excited about drudging for a D1 weapon that I have already paid for via money and time. Very disappointing and just not the same. We've gone from an exotic drop, to exotic quest, to find your exotic quest and hope you can jump really well and your team mates too, and hope for the exotic drop. I'll say it again Bungie and you are proving it, "You can't recreate greatness on the same thing." D1 was fun and exciting --they just can't seem to come up with anything new. They broke the Glass Gaming ceiling and that's it. IMO: As a dwindling Destiny fan here's the pattern I see: -Buy the game -Grind your butt off to get your exotic/weapon -Watch your favorite best weapon get nerfed (some cases nerfed/nerfed) -Wait and watch for it to be destroyed -Buy the game AGAIN -Grind your butt off to get THE SAME exotic/weapon -Watch your favorite best weapon get nerfed AGAIN -Wait and watch for it to be destroyed AGAIN -Buy THE GAME AGAIN (NEVER a discount/benefits for loyal fans) Bungie coined the phrased "Rinse and repeat" in itself and why so much of it. I had a BLAST in D1....I play D DoOver, but this might be Destiny Done for me. [Not asking for anyone to agree/disagree with me --just how I see it.] In a heartbeat I would've paid Bright Dust to purchase my D1 IB gear....maybe, maybe even silver. Have fun chasing all the SAME weapons agian.................

I remember a time we all agreed that Eververse expanding like this was a bad thing. It's not as bad as being essentially the only end game there is but resources that could be spent on more important things like strikes and story are being spent on Eververse instead. Then the money they make from people who buy stuff from Eververse that they said would go to free content (or at the very least new paid content) goes back into making new stuff for Eververse instead, what a -blam!-ing surprise. But nobody wants to talk about it unless they're saying that Eververse isn't a problem. Inaction makes it all worse.

Too bad these horrible changes had to happen during easily the BEST annual pass addition in the entire year. I'd even argue that it's better than the Y1 DLCs of D2, as well.

Pursuits would be better if they were to the right of the focus when you hit select. Switch pursuits and roster and it will work better.

Direct purchase could fill in some gaps from year 1 for those that played and new stuff drops from engrams as it has in all previous six seasons. Its no coincidence I think that Shadowkeep start date of September 17th gives us a fifteen week Season of Opulence. That's one piece of new armour a week across the three classes. Missed last weeks Warlock helmet? Won't see it again. Not enough bright dust to buy this weeks? Tough. There's always the overpriced silver option ...... So disappointed with this approach.
