-sigh-
Your sports reference is a poor one. The receiver isn't stationary, disoriented, nor is he not expecting the ball.
When you spawn kill, your opponent is disoriented, momentarily stationary (albeit for a split second but that's all you need if you have a hammer, sniper rifle or rockets) and isn't expecting to be killed within the first half second of spawning.
Does it take skill? Well, if EVERYONE went into forge world and saw where the spawns were JUST so they could have map control all the time then we wouldn't be playing HALO, would we? We'd be predicting math problems and the statistical likelyhood of where your opponent is going to spawn next.
If you remain on one spawn point and barely move your retical to get a kill that you KNOW is going to be there, then no, it doesn't take skill. You've mastered the game. Congratulations. Why are you still playing?
Its not about whether its a good strategy or not. The fact that you are taking advantage of the spawn system is borderline cheating. You are using "known methods to influence the outcome of the game." Why is it borderline cheating? Can they counter it? 90% of the time, no. If there is a 10% success rate against this strategy, it should not be implemented. You're basically playing against the spawn system at that point, not the player.
TL;DR When you spawn kill, you cease to play against other players. You are playing against the spawn system, and once you figure it out, the other players could be noobs or seasoned pros. You're going to win 90% of the time by spawn killing with power weapons.
