I honestly think most of us are holding onto the memories of D1. It was quite an amazing experience. D2 has had bright spots but it's such a shell of its predecessor.

I know I am. still not had exciting moments like dropping Hawkmoons, Ghorns, and other awesome exotics from raids or Nf's... even repeats were exciting back in those days where you didn't have collections to pull from.

Ah, the good old days. The good old days, unfortunately, are just a combination of a bad memory and a good imagination. The fact is D1 probably wasn't any better than D2 during it's time. But since so many are frustrated with the current state of D2, you have convinced yourself that D1 was some masterpiece. It wasn't. It was a good game and had many highs and lows just like D2 has. In reality, it's not a shell of it's predecessor. It's actually better in most ways. What we are all upset with is that D2 has fallen short of what it should have been. But that doesn't make it lesser than D1. D1 was great for it's time. It isn't anymore. You're holding onto a memory that is over embellished and thus nothing will ever live up to it because it isn't real.

I agree with you to an extent. Destiny 1 definitely isn't as perfect as most people think they remember. However, me personally, I actually enjoyed most of the original Destiny over Destiny 2. But I'm not gunna fully judge D2 intill towards the end of year 3 of it

Ya I played D2 for about a month then put it away and never looked back, I still play D 1 now and then, but D2 never again!

I still stand by the saying that Vanilla D2 was better than Vanilla D1. Was it better than Taken King or RoI? Oh, goodness no! One of the problems is that a lot of the people I'm seeing complain are those who joined during TTK, or RoI. Those who never had to run the farming ho trains across the system for each material. Those that were never "Forever 29". Those that never had to use the loot cave, because Rahool was a jerk who would give you greens from purple drops! Those that never had to deal with the original infusion system where it wasn't a 100% jump up! You had to get multiple weapons/armor at that level in order to get somewhere in the ballpark of that light level. TLDR- While we're not in as good a spot as we were at the end of D1, we sure are better than when we were at the beginning. I'll even say that we're probably better than where we were during HoW times. I'll catch flak for that last bit, but eh.

But it was pretty shocking much of a shell vanilla D2 was and how many bad decisions were made.

We had an actual cohesive story and we didn't have to go outside the game to find out what what going on. Remember "Make your own story!"? Shooting aliens in the face in the old Cosmodrome with nothing tying the raids into the story. While the story we eventually got was awesome, I haven't been as pissed when finishing the main "story" since the "end" of Halo 2. Because like the "end" of Halo 2, the "story" of D1 vanilla wasn't even in the game!

I liked Vanilla D2 outside of all the steps it took back from the end of Destiny 1. You'll never convince me Vanilla D2 should be compared to Vanilla D1. I was honestly floored by how much was lost.

If I remember correctly, half of the reason that we don't have most of the old content now is because of the difference in coding from D1 to D2. I mean, we didn't even get all of the old Cosmodrome, just the opening area to the boss fight. Why else did they need to bring in outside studios just to finish the current content in time? Maybe we'll be seeing more of the classic stuff come fall. If I'm wrong, I'm sure that I'll be promptly notified. XD

The lack of story, the busted as hell loot system requiring a loot cave, non 100% infusion rates, the "forever 29"? None of these are ringing any bells?
