That's still a lot of players in the field. I'm sure that Bungie expects player population to fluctuate as I'm sure they also expect that the majority of their player-base will eventually branch out and play other games. Especially with new releases in the genre and/or other titles. I'm in that category as well as many in my circle of friends and clan mates. Also, people do get busy with life and responsibilities and depending on the time of year, it could cause shifts/trends with in-game population. Do these numbers alone indicate an issue with the game? For me, I don't believe so.

In a fast paced game, I'd agree. But Div 2 is a lot slower and more tactical than most FPS games and it just works for me. It does help that I'm old and slow myself...👴🏻

I'm also old. The only 3rd person games I like were the uncharted series bc the story was solid. I lose immersion in 3rd person and the shooting mechanics just feel off. I may hafta try it out but I doubt I'll play for long.

They aren’t good numbers compared to D1, let alone compared to other AAA multiplayer titles through history.

Let’s see. Battle Royale didn’t even exist then, and neither did any similar loot shooter..... Free to play games were garbage, for the most part, around that time. But you really aren’t stating facts until you compare it to other current games over the same timeframe. I wouldn’t doubt if D3 is a new IP that’s Free2play. These Free2play game models are really screwing over some none F2P games.

I think you're in denial. Especially when you consider that Destiny 1 used to routinely beat those numbers with less content and one fewer platform. But you also have to realize that the PVP numbers are both Crucible AND Gambit combined. This game is **hurting** right now....and yet Bungie just meeting the mounting player frustration a great big wall of silence. ....with the occasional "Screw You" from the Investment Team.

Mate are you dumb? Compare these to Destiny 1 player count and then look at the D2 player count That is a massive difference, it's cause for concern

Destiny 2 was free on two platforms for two months and picked up between 2-3 million players.

People always want to say “see, player base numbers are XYZ, and that’s not good”, when in all reality it’s a natural population decline over a period of time. Until one of these stupid posts actually puts up a graph comparing to other games, this is just another dumb post saying “look here” without any facts behind it.

Then make a graph that also controls for variables such as “other triple A titles at the same time”, “Free2play populations and current landscape”, “time of year” and “current content status (its been months since forsaken released)”. Free to play and AAA aren't separate, buddy. Last I looked, Apex is both free AND from a AAA studio/publisher. For a non-free-to-play game, Destiny is looking reeeaaallllyyy bare right about now.
