Malfeasance is crap - Why & How to fix it.

Here's the thing. You go through all this effort and luck, some still have not seen the meatball somehow an I feel for them, gotta do a decently difficult quest an some grind. The gun is [b]MADE TO KILL GUARDIANS[/b]. It damn well says it. Drifter says it. Looks like it. Doesn't feel like it though. Lunas Howl perk dominates Malfeasance. Hell, it even does [b]MORE[/b] damage against taken bosses. So it even sucks against taken. Sunshot is better against taken. One shot and I can clear out ~3 enemies. Ppl say that its a gambit weapon. But I don't agree with this on two parts: [i]1. Lunas how is supposed to be the crucible one, but wrecks the taken and invaders in gambit. 2. Queensbreakers, Sleeper, hell any linear fusion rifle all wreck Malfeasance in gambit. [/i] [b]SOLUTION:[/b] I think the firerate should be slowed down to a 9mag type. 3shots then explode + since the bullets are supposed to [b]BURROW[/b] into the target, let each bullet do 2sec lasting damage (like burning, but make it look all dark) and slow down the target, say -5mob or half of what the shock shanks do? [b]REASON:[/b] This gun looks bad ass, the effort it takes to get it, once ya pass that luck check of life, is no easy thing. Maybe once ya 650, but when I was 580, still had a tuff go. The gun is made to kill guardians, made to kill the man with the golden gun. So it should be powerful. Any time I am in a game, ppl talk trash on malfeasance. So instead of talking trash, why not support this awesome cause for malfeasance to be one baddass and feared weapon. Hell.. even adding a catalyst that would enable my mentioned perks would be nice as well, esp if the mission was hard NOT the grind. I think we all would like more challenging ways to get items rather than a long grindy road. But thats for a diff post. :p P.S - I've only played D1 last january or something, and never got thorn, just heard about it in the lore on destiny guides or what not. So the perks I suggest come from me reading the lore of the gun. So if it sounds like im suggesting thorn, BLAME THE LORE TAB D:

  • The gun is fine 15 round Klip melts adds quickly. I don’t see a problem. Why does everyone want easy mode weapons? When would it be enough hip shot fire across map one head shot kill. Would that be easy enough for you???

  • I say make the malf a literal "-blam!- you" to everything taken. Shoot through phalanx shields Shoot through vandal bubble Shoot through link effect And shoot through the outer layer of taken blights.

      • I don’t have the Mal myself but I’ve watched a lot of vids of people using it. Haven’t really went up against it a lot though...but anyhow, from the many vids I’ve watched it does plow through taken pretty nicely although it looks like the explosion is...disappointing to say the least. I always expected a big nasty kaboom!! when you stack the slugs. I’m slowly grinding for it, just taking my time and kind of ‘when I get it done is when I get it the gun’ mentality I have with most weapon quest lines. I’m looking forward to having it bc of the lore, the aesthetic and the utility but I ain’t busting my butt to get it bc it kinda looks, well a small bit underwhelming.

        • It needs the perk taken predator built into the gun and not waste a perk slot. Give it high Cal or enemies killed from explosion return ammo to the mag and take less shots for the next explosion

        • Make it do bonus damage to guardians in supers/ fully super charged guardians or steal super energy on explosions.

          • Not much of Gambit player but I finally got the servitor on match 38/40 grinding out breakneck. So I'm ready to get this gun finally.

          • Malfeasance severely outdamages luna in gambit against invaders. Luna needs 4 headshots. Malfeasance need 3 headshots or 5 bodyshots against invaders. Malfeasance also kills supers in 7 bodyshots in gambit. And malfeasance does WAY more damage against any taken enemy in gambit.

          • The gun was designed to excel at GAMBIT. So it kills INVADERS....and The Taken. When used for what its designed to do....and against high priority targets like bosses and mini-bosses...its a very good weapon. I ran out of heavy last night taking out the Volundr Forge boss....and the gun made impressively short work of him. Its not very flashy....but it does a LOT of damage...fast.

              • It's my fav gun in pve. Not sure why people are complaining about it. It wrecks bosses and majors. Not everything is for pvp.

                  • I'd have to disagree. Got a Sum of all Tears in 3ish minutes with it. Now for PvE it needs a damn buff, way too weak in PvE.

                  • Crap is a bit far. If you don’t run a exotic energy and special, its perfect for gambit. Clears out blockers quickly, can dps well, can take down beefy ads well. I would take a buff but its not crap at all.

                    It needs another damage buff against taken, that way it would be more effective against blockers and the boss phase when you run out of heavy/special ammo. However as is it’s still a good weapon for Gambit, get a 4 stack with Malfeasance all equipped and watch even the boss get melted. A new buff that negates all taken special abilities as well would be good, like negate links, go through phalanx shields, through bubbles.

                  • I personally like where it stands. I think you're overlooking to get he maximum benefit out of it, you have to roll in a group. My friend and I use it often and it does some serious work. Its like judging Rat King during solo use. In crucible, its 5 shots to stop a super. Its what I have equipped during Mayhem. 5 shots and the Nova Warp is dead. 5 shots and the Spectral Blades is dead. 5 shots and the hammer of Sol is dead. You have 2 or 3 people putting 1 -3 shots in a piece and that nova warp won't make it more than a meter. Heck, Drifter even calls it out as a team-shot weapon in the lore. As far as gambit, its damage perk works against invaders. Not when you invade. Of course sleeper, queensbreaker will do better. They're heavy weapons.

That is what the perk says it does. It rekts [b]invaders[/b], not simply "other guardians". [quote]Lunas Howl perk dominates Malfeasance. That along with the five rounds in the enemy does more than a Luna against Taken. [b][u]Bottom Line[/u]:[/b] The gun was made for [b][i]Gambit[/i][/b]. If you are using it outside of Gambit and expecting it to be a pinnacle weapon, then you need to adjust your expectations.

                          Malfeasance should be better. Should be a 9 shot magazine with higher impact, higher damage from the explosion, 3 shots to proc, slow down the RoF by one class, proc'ing an explosion grants outlaw.

                        • I voted no. Just because I don’t agree with most thing being proposed here and you’ve failed to fact check some of your statements. Some people are saying you want a thorn. I can see how what you’re wanting is not thorn but would definitely make it a feared crucible weapon. People don’t want that. My main vote against this is the archetype change. That’s a complete no go for me as it is a very strong 180 hand cannon. Laser recoil and just overall is easy to use on console. Damage is fine due to stacking explosives. Also, we already have Ace with memento Mori. If Mal received an archetype change it would essentially cause Ace to be pointless.

But thats for a diff post. :p[/quote] Malfeasance is basically Thorn with explosive rounds instead of the poison DoT that Thorn had. Thorn was my favorite handcannon in D1 and I got hate mail [i]constantly[/i] for using it in crucible, before and after it's nerf. You could 2 piece with Thorn, 3 if body shots. I'm all about buffs, however any buff Malfeasance gets, won't last long when people plug up all the Cry-1-1 lines on it.
