The gun was designed to excel at GAMBIT. So it kills INVADERS....and The Taken. When used for what its designed to do....and against high priority targets like bosses and mini-bosses...its a very good weapon. I ran out of heavy last night taking out the Volundr Forge boss....and the gun made impressively short work of him. Its not very flashy....but it does a LOT of damage...fast.

  • This is why nearly any exotic with breakneck is a better gambit build than any build with malf? LH also does more damage against taken bosses, funny considering the Malf has the taken damage bonus. If it was a legendary I'd have no complaints about it. But if a legendary can out do an exotic and they're the same gun type, the exotic needs a buff.

    1. That depends on what your goal is. Breakneck was DESIGNED to be a pinnacle weapon for "crowd control" in GAMBIT...and PVE in general. Malfeasance is not a crowd control weapon. Like Polaris Lance, it was designed to be a weapon to DPS high-hitpoint targets. 2. I haven't taken a look at the actual numbers yet, but I doubt that's the case once you figure in the damage done by the explosion when you put 5 rounds into a target. 3. Those weapons don't do what Malfeasance was designed to do. Malf was designed to give you an advantage against HIgh-priority Targets----Invaders, Taken bosses, and mini-bosses----where you can leverage that bonus damage that explosion produces. The "problem" is that you don't see this on trash mobs, because they die before you can put 5 rounds into them.....and you don't see this big massive explosion like you do when you get a similar perk to proc with Polaris Lance. So the weapon doesn't "feel" exotic.

  • I've had to make the exotic explosion perk to work in my own way. What I do is shoot about 2-3 in each target if there is a group, then precision kill one. Then it makes all the others explode. Basically, making it sunshot, but with some effort. More like a... methodical sunshot. My main issue is that, for all the work and luck needed to get this, it's hella underpowered. Whereas shit like thunderlord is hilariously op and mind-numbingly easy. Also, from a pvp perspective, when going after ppl in crucible and this is from my experience, I hardly get time to put 5 shots into someone before someone else comes along and gives an assist. Kindled orchid even kills people before 5 shots if im not mistaken in crucible. The damn thing is made to kill guardians and to kill the guy with the golden gun. Thing should feel as wicked as it looks and get a reputation to match.

Tha'ts making a screwdriver work as a hammer. Just use a hammer. The weapon isn't underpowered. You're insisting on using it for a job it wasn't designed to do. What the gun is designed to do is to allow you to effectively DPS the boss and other things on the platform with your PRIMARY, rather than having to resort to a heavy weapon you might not have ammo for. The weapon does the job it was designed to do very well. The problem is that people want it to be something else.

  • I'm saying that's the best way I found to use it on mobs. It's okay with larger enemies, but when fighting the forge servitor, my subtle calamity seems to do more damage same goes with most bosses. Most weapons do more damage over time than Malf. In most situations why use Malf when there's Ace of Spades? There's really no reason to use malf over ace, wish ender is even a better option as it actually does more damage against taken enemies. And if ppl want it to be something else, why not make it something else? That why there are updates. Malf is currently meh at best, so give it an update. If it ends up being too op then they adjust it again. Changing stats and reworking perks isn't a month long endeavor. Could easily be done in a day or a few hrs depending how the dev structure is set up.

  • MALFEASANCE IS AN ANTI TAKEN WEAPON. NOT AN ANTI SERVITOR WEAPON. You using it for the wrong things is what the problem here is.

  •
And if ppl want it to be something else, why not make it something else?
Because the game is LOADED with weapons that do what you seem to want it to do.....control mobs. Only ONE other weapon in the game does what Malf was DESIGNED to do.....Polaris Lance. And Polaris Lance is (quietly) one of the best weapons in the game, since Bungie fixed the damage they did to scout rifles. Ace of Spades was designed to be a crowd-control weapon...and a competitive weapon in the Crucible. The game doesn't need two exotic hand cannons that basically do the same thing

  • Polaris is garb. Much better legendary scouts out there. Inaugural Address I think is one of them. The one with full auto. I don't want malf to be a control weapon, even though I can use it for that if I want. I want it to be a weapon guardians fear in crucible and is just fun to use during pve. Like shit, give health back on a kill even, makes more sense for malf to have this than crimson.

  • 1. Inaugural Address is a pulse rifle. 2. If you think Polaris Lance is garbage then you aren’t using it properly. 3. Also I’ve finally gotten a chance to play a few hours with Malfeasance. The thing isn’t flashy, but it is BRUTALLY effective in bosses and minibossed. The round deal their initial damage. Then when you trigger the five round explosion, EACH round explodes and deals critical hit damage.

    1. Don't be a douche, ya know which weapon I'm talking about. Forgive me I can't remember 1000 different weapons and their names. I'm not a god sorry. 2. I get 4 crits + the explosion every time. Maybe I'm supposed to get body shots and no explosion instead? Is that how to use it prop? 3. Yeah. it does crit damage, doesn't mean its good crit damage or better damage over time. My subtle calamity does more total crit damage and with the new dragonfly mod, pretty much have le monarch. Telesto does some major crit damage and so does whisper, ace... any exotic weapon rlly. So to say it's good because it can do crit damage even if you suck at landing crits in the first place isn't saying much. Also... I know how malf works. It's my main gun. Just because I think it could use a buff doesn't mean I don't touch it. It's almost always stays on, unless I need to use thunderlord cuz someone is crying in the party cuz I have malf on and according to them "it's trash". And considering the majority of ppl who claim to want harder raids cry if you don't use their cheese method so it's a bit hard to join groups if ya don't use what they want cuz everything else is trash. Not using coldheart during the first week of raid, trash. Not using whisper for calus, oh you must be trash. Not using sleeper, trash. It's annoying af. The handcannon might be great for ppl who can't land a crit to save their life, but that aint me and those ppl shouldn't be using handcannons to begin with.

  • The weapon is extremely powerful at what it’s designed to do. DPSing bosses, mini bosses, Taken and Gambit invader. You want it to be a weapon to control trash mobs. If that’s what you want, play Ace of Spades. The weapon is fine. You’re just unwilling to change how you play to leverage what it does well. If you insist on using a screwdriver to hammer nails, it’s not the screwdriver’s fault. Use. A. Hammer. Or change to using screws. When used as it was designed, Malfeasance is VERY good.
