Lets break this down because there is a lot to unpack here. Some clarification, being progressive, to me, is being proactive at calling people out on their explicit or implicit bias. That can come in the form of racism, sexism, outright misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, classicism; the basics. The point that most people have issue understanding is how implicit bias effects their world view since it is way more sublet in most cases. If you are saying that you want no immigration, its likely because you have a health dose of xenophobia in you. You may want to hide behind, the mask of "they're stealing our jobs!", but any reputable research shows that immigrants take the jobs that "natives" (i use this word very loosely for places like the US) don't want to do. Or the other classic "We don't even take care of our vets", not a zero sum game, its been proven in places like Texas that you can do both.
