I honestly don't know what else to say about this stupidity.
*edit* Colour me stupid for not knowing what the Japanese meaning was behind the name. I've been reading the comments and I learned something today about Japanese culture that I never knew before. Thank you for the lessons.
I knew that the name was Japanese in origin, just didn't know it's meaning. I'm more educated today. Thank you.

15 RepliesEdited by AlphaLion42: 12/19/2018 9:14:25 AMIf you’re letting a word that was not intended for offense , offend you Bc of what it says backwards....you are the definition of weakness and victimhood ideology. You are EXACTLY what’s WRONG with the world. Get a grip and get real. Start looking at the context of how it was used and GROW UP.
-
Since when does the spelling of something matter backwards?
-
The only stupidity here is yours.
I honestly don't know what else to say about this stupidity.
So true. The stupidity of people getting mad over nothing is getting pathetic.

2 RepliesIzanami is the Japanese goddess of creation and death... You should do some research before you get all SJW.
-
Izanami gorge refers to a Japanese goddess of death and creation. Good job in doing literally no research. I honestly don't know what else to say about this stupidity
-
2 RepliesYou are an idiot, and clearly underqualified to live.
-
I don't either - you are totally an idiot for associating a legitimate name from Japanese culture with a horrific hate group. Congratulations on your SJW failure! In Japanese mythology, Izanami no mikoto (Japanese: 伊弉冉尊 or 伊邪那美命, meaning "she who invites") is a goddess of both creation and death, as well as the former wife of the god Izanagi-no-mikoto. She is also referred to as Izanami no kami.

Maybe instead of calling companies stupid you should open a new tab and look stuff up.

Edited by GrundleBeans: 12/19/2018 10:57:41 PMI won’t color you stupid for not knowing the meaning of a word in another language. What I will color you stupid for, and anyone else that genuinely thinks you were right, is thinking it makes sense to take a word from a different language, flip it backwards and assign it a totally different language’s meaning, completely out of context, and convince yourself that it’s a conspiracy that Bungie had that intention rather than coincidence.

3 RepliesAnd Draterami is imaretard backwards ...what's your point?

4 RepliesEdited by TattooedOni: 12/19/2018 10:22:47 PMYeah all of these Japanese Folklore scholars who got their degree from google in the last 24 hours are great. Sure they’re ignorant, and yeah they are just parroting what they saw someone else write. There are plenty of perfectly good Japanese words and historical/mythological names that could have been used instead and don’t say anything at all in English when reversed. Inari Okami for example. Don’t know who that is? Well it’s a Kami that was the patron of blacksmiths in the 15th century. Don’t forget to donate to Wikipedia while you’re there.

56 RepliesIf even one person at a Bungie was able to reverse the letters in their head (not very good at simple puzzles if they can’t), AND it got to stay the same word till it shipped that’s a failing on their part. I understand it’s a Japanese word. There are plenty of other Japanese words to use instead, and they wouldn’t look so foolish.

2 RepliesGatorade. It’s what plants need.

Someone came here straight from the foxnews forums.

4 RepliesBruh I am as hardcore progressive as it gets at stopping people from being asshats to other groups, but this is a step to far. Izanami is a critical piece of Japanese creation mythology. A very apt name for a forge, you know that creates things.
-
Another silly snowflake. Look, it's a Japanese word, words aren't meant to be read backwards, you know that right? Sjw looking to be offended at everything smh
-
8 RepliesGood thing it isn’t spelt backwards in the game right? Seriously out of all the things you think are necessary to complain about you choose this?
-
Oh the irony...
-
Yep. It's Bungie that's stupid, and not you. Oh... wait....
-
It's a Japanese word.
