You are aware IB is/was SBMM right?

  • Yes, my point is that it's no fun either to stomp the enemies team and repeatedly return to orbit every 2 minutes because of that.

  • True but that has nothing to do with what your reply was to this thread. Your reply was you stating your opinion which was clearly in favor of SBMM/returning it how it was. IB was SBMM and we all saw how that went. Also I'd like to reply to your opinion by saying your analogy for Real Madrid/Man U is insanely flawed. Like someone else responded around 3 hours ago 90% of their matches are against teams of lower skill. RM doesn't play FC Barcelona every game, there is Levante, Betis and basically the whole league apart from maybe 2 other clubs. I understand that matching a FC Barcelona vs your "hometown team" isn't fair but you portray it like it happens every match when the chance of that happening is extremely low as mostly everyone is "bad".

  • I was using the IB situation to advocate for balanced matches. Nothing more. The soccer analogy seems inaccurate to you because you use only the Primera Division for your example. You have to use all of Spain football leagues for the example to work. See, the analogy is that the Destiny playerbase is basically all football clubs. That includes RM and Barca as well as your local amateur soccer club. For the system to work you need to sort all clubs into leagues, with the strongest clubs contesting for the title in Primera Division. Even though Barca, RM and Atletico are somewhat better than the other clubs in the Primera Division, they are still on kind of a level playing field. A perfect balance is admittedly impossible and that's not what I was trying to say. The point is that RM don't regularly play 2nd, 3rd or 4th league teams. Plus, even though there is probably thousands of soccer teams in Spain and dozends of leagues, every league still has its own structure of better and worse teams, showing just how big the skill spectrum is. Destiny is no different. SBMM granularily tries to sort players into brackets and lets them play eachother while constantly reevaluating their skill and resorting the brackets' players. This let's everyone gradually improve (at least if they want). I would definitely prefer that kind of system over something as random as CBMM, where some of my games are easy (and I learn nothing) and some are impossible (and I also learn nothing).
