Well, you are protesting that the game has become disadvantageous for you (or for lesser skilled players) and are actively seeking to make it so for another group (the more skilled players). Average players are not getting "stomped". I have said this before but we are dealing with a normal distribution here where most of the population is average +- one standard deviation. Chances for you to encounter a top player are fairly low. Your football analogy can fly with competitive but not quickplay. You face teams of similar skill in a competitive scenario and the rewards are commensurate to the level of performance.
