Flawed reasoning.
12 players in a game.
So there is on average one 90+ percentile player in every game.
A 90 percentile player is a LOT better than a say 50, 60 or 70 percentile player (if you don't believe me compare online ladders and percentile). Playtests in Overwatch show that 3 Master players (90p) can handily beat a team of 6 Gold players (50p).
So basically the average and above average player can expect in every game a player he can not defend against. He will just be dead.
This my friend is basic statistical reasoning.

You're ignoring the rest of the other team the player can engage too. And by your reasoning, our average-skilled protagonist is just as likely to have a top tier player on his/her team, too. Also Overwatch and D2 are so wildly different, that comparison does little to support your position.

Edited by TheCyo: 7/31/2018 4:59:37 PMYou ignore that this is qp and not comp. QP by definition has no team play (maybe this will change out of necessity for lower tier players in the future). Single player skill has a much more dominant role in qp. And you're right. This may also be the reason why most games are blowouts. Whoever has the 90p player wins. Basically the rest of the teams are just there to fill up for the one man show. You know, the one that comes into this forum and tells all how awesome the new QP is and everybody should have as much fun as he has. Well, we do know that mindset: "Why aren't they eat cake?"

I probably fall in the top percentile, and I'm on PC (the sweatiest platform). When I solo queue, I'm still winning less than 75% of my games, and I can put up 40+ kills with a 5.0+ KD and still lose. At my level, the previous heavy SBMM made it so if the other team had even the slightest advantage, they will spawn camp you right out of the game. There was no, "Oh I lost but I had a good game." As for the social and casual environment Quickplay is supposed to foster, I do feel guilty when I play QP with my friends who happen to be of similar skill. But I'm also happy to be able to take my unskilled friends into QP with me, and now they're likely to be able to engage people at their skill level too. The 6-stacks are pretty cancer. I even feel that way when I'm on one. I think these players will get bored with the pub-stomping after a week or two though; it's just something that wasn't even an option before. I know my clan will be going back to private scrims this week.

Thanks for your great response. This is the response I would have expected from all the top players in this forum instead of the "git gud" and "you learn only by playing better players". But I took this tip by heart and when I start boxing, I will have my first fight with a pro boxer - because that's where I will learn the most after hitting the floor 3 seconds in the fight :)

Don’t forget the fact that solo queue players, who are mostly average or low skilled at best, are being constantly matched against fireteam of 3 to 6 players who belong to the upper echelon of competitive league.

Well ive been everywhere from a 40th to a 97th percentile in destiny. (currently 96.8% or there about) And when i was in the 60-70 range i had no issues playing against the occasional 95th or better player. When there are 5 other enemies, its easy to avoid the one good one. Might i also add that if you are lets say in the 60th percentile there will likely be 7 worse players in the lobby,

So you know that on average you now have in every game 5 opponents in the enemy team you just will slaughter in a 1v1. Yeah, I guess your games are fun now. Not so for the 5 other guys. For sure they will take the constant beating with a smile and continue playing this game.
-
So let me get this straight, i can slaughter those 5 opponents, so they are mad, instead of just idk.. Avoiding the one player that can slaughter them? Cmon
-
Again: is your experience in the fun games you now have that they are smart enough to avoid you? I guess not.

Edited by Moof Juice: 7/31/2018 3:24:19 AMI mean... some are stupid enough to actually seek me out if i kill them enough times... but most of the time. Yes. Otherwise id be dropping 40-50 bombs semi regularly. Honestly. I average about 17 kills per game (which is top 1%) So... on average i kill each of my 6 opponents 2.8 times per game, or about once every 3 and a half minutes in a 10 minute game. Now you tell me, is it really that hard to lose an average of 3 engagements per game to one person? Thats assuming they are all 1v1s?
