Escalation protocol being easier at high level and upcoming iron banner being power levelled are already two examples of why someone who doesn’t raid would want to be max light. Why would you alienate a huge percentage (far more than raiders) by not allowing max light attainable outside raids? It would be a stupid idea even just from a business sense. Also if solo and matchmaking players don’t have max light to chase, they’re going to leave the game much sooner. Again, terrible for business. There are plenty of ways they can cater to solo and raiding players. Locking max light is not one of them. Only an elitist would think something like max light should be held back for no good reason especially when there is already raid specific gear to grind for that you can’t get without raiding.

  • well escalation protocol is 385, soon we are going to be around 600 anyways. and if you can find people to do ep, then you can find peopel to do raids. and if raid rewards were worth it, and the gear powerfull even outside of the raid i wouldnt mind. but reaching max lvl is like the only thing we have compared to somebody who is playing casually.

  • No, raiders have raid armour, weapons, shaders etc with raid perks you can only get from doing the raid. Solo players can’t get those, so that’s not true at all. It does not affect a raid player in any way for a solo player to be able to reach max light. Raiders still get gear a solo player cannot. As mentioned, iron banner will matter on light level. You shouldn’t be required to raid to have max level in IB that has nothing to do with raids. There is no down side to solo players reaching max Iight from milestones and EP etc. Raiders already have raid specific gear you can only get in the raid.

  • https://i.redditmedia.com/4Wjhafv7wTzI0vmUadpw6NXksx6zlZA02ZQXjqTTums.png?fit=crop&crop=faces%2Centropy&arh=2&w=960&s=c8844c774216e268a3cc500ebbcfa148 oh yeah we got that sorry. with perks that are only a bit impactfull on the raid, and only the raid, not even a cabal dmg buff outside of the raid. so you get the full set of the raid after a lot of raids tog et more gear to do...the raid...yay. weapons dont have any exclusive perks, and most of them are low tiers in both pve and pvp. shaders have equivalent at tess (besides the goldy one) and what does "etc.." means since there is nothing else except 2 emotes for raiders well iron banana is endgame for bungie, so if you played hard doing those raids, you deserve the right to be mor epowerfull than a player that has only do easy solo things a raider could have done too. and im pretty sure that more people have done raids, than EP. and once again if the raid was giving you unique gear yeah cool have your light lvl, but its not the case. as an example the WOTM raid gear and weapons had unique perks on both weapons and armors (and they were awesome looking) in d2...well my rocket launcher have the same perk as a curtain call for an example. no unique perks, juste perks that are on guns i can get trough killing a dreg in the edz. no better stats than normal weapons just skins, and skins arent a decent reward for a raid.

So your answer is let’s take away max light from the vast majority of the player base even though I already have exclusive gear to grind in raids for just because I don’t think I have enough to grind for in raid? Not ask for more raid related gear to grind for? Brilliant. Good thinking there. What they should be doing is adding things like raid specific ships, mods to equip that affect you while doing a raid, legendary raid weapons should have legendary catalysts that add bonuses while in a raid (like the auto rifle could drop more orbs, rocket launcher could do more damage to Calus etc). That’s how all of this should be fixed. Not by ‘taking away’ from other players.

  • but we dont want gear that does better things in raid, once you got everything from your raids you dont have any reasons to do them again besides helping people. after 20+ raids i dont give a toss if they give me an insta kill weapon for calus. i want weapons that i got from an hard activity that i can use everywhere to feel powerfull the ep shotgun is a very good example of a nice rewards for a lot of efforts, and its perk isnt only working on the escalation protocol boss right ? or else it would just be a normal shotgun in raids/strikes and everything. i want raid weapons that are actually strong everywhere not just "better looking", because thats boooooooooooring. the exclusive raid gear have nothing exclusive besides being ugly, non of my characters are wearing those armors beside smy warlock and his chest piece. outside of the raid why would you put your "deals 25% more dmg with void ability" if this works only in raids. to look "cool" or "swag" ? raid only bonuses are good for sure, but not enough, because honestly i dont like doing the calus raid at all, (besides dogs, i like puppies), so giving me gear from the raid to do more raids, in order to get nothing else...well thats pointless. i was expecting for at least perks like allowing me to pierece torugh phalanx shields, dealing more damage to cabals, this kind of things. but no the only "anti cabal" weapon is a weapon you can get from xur or any suitable lootsource. as an example would you enjoy a weapon you can only get trough doing a lot of time the same adventure and have an awesome perk that is working only on this adventure that you have no more reasons to do after getting the weapon ? same feeling for the raid.

  • That’s all well and good and I understand what you mean, but unfortunately raiders are the minority here. Far less people raid than don’t raid. If all the good stuff is locked behind raids, then the player base will just dwindle more than it already has. You’re not suddenly going to have 80% of people raiding because that’s where the gear is. If they don’t raid now, then they obviously don’t want to raid. People don’t raid for lots of reasons. No in game LFG system (it is ridiculous to expect people to use other websites etc to find a game). It is a lot of time to invest in one sitting for a lot of people to do a raid. You need to find 5 other people to play with. A lot of people also don’t want to play with randoms they don’t know. And that’s before you get to boring, tedious things like hiding from dogs or running around carrying orbs through hoops. For me personally, I don’t think that’s very fun at all. Why would I want to play a tedious, frustrating, often boring part of the game? Bungie needs to do better here for everyone.

  • think about it, if there was awesome weapons in raids, more people would do them. i dont ask for ALL the good stuff to be locked in in the raid, but to have also good stuff in the raid. a lot of epopel dont wanna do the raid because..well there is no reason beside sgetting ugly armors. midnight coup is the only great weapon from this raid thanks to its outlaw+rampage but once again thats perks you can get anywhere.

  • I just think D1 raid completions percentages show people won’t raid just because of gear if they really don’t want to raid. I know I wouldn’t. They’re a hassle to organise and something like Leviathan just isn’t actually fun.
