You are 100% correct that it doesn't matter what sexuality the character is, but incorrect that it doesn't matter why they chose that. That's kind of the point I'm trying to make, and I'm not defending people who are legitimately homophobic and have a problem with it being included strictly for that reason.
I'm saying that because Ana Bray is a character and not a real person, her being homosexual for the purposes of the story was a deliberate choice. In my opinion including that as part of the story, or any romantic plotline felt a little forced and out of place. Because of this it actually feels a bit exploitative of Bungie and don't doubt that they made those choices at least in part to jump on the "Look how diverse our game is" bandwagon. Something I truly believe the gaming industry could use more of, but c'mon there's better and less forced ways to add diversity than adding it seemingly out of nowhere in a game that hasn't really been known for its great character development and storytelling.
I know that's not the same as what a lot of people here are saying which might be legitimately bigoted, but simply questioning the motives of the writers is not bigotry, nor justifying it by others. It's critical thinking, and something I'm asking you and others on both sides to do more often. Calling a bunch of people bigots who are trying to have a rational logic based debate is what led us to this level of polarization and allowed a doofus like Trump to get elected, and if your method for bringing others to your way of thinking is to shout "No Debate." at them we're only doomed to stay the current course.

Edited by Lost Sols: 6/25/2018 9:39:46 PMIt doesn't matter why they chose it. It's their story. It's their characters. If you don't know anything about the company and how diverse it's employees are that's on you. The fact that they want diverse characters representative of all of them and who they are is their right. If you don't like it, don't read it or play it. What you're advocating is censorship. Nothing you can write will make you correct.

Edited by WiggletonBandit: 6/25/2018 10:02:59 PMGot it. No thinking. If you didn't think it was good writing you're a bigot. And how is it censorship? I'm not in any way saying they shouldn't be able to say it. I'm saying the motivations matter more than what they printed. Like most of the far left you're arguing the motivations don't matter, that what they said is more important than why they said it.

Motivation doesn't matter because there's nothing to be offended by unless you're a homophobe or bigot.

That's the stupidest thing ever written on these forums, congratulations.

Did you even read the other comments properly? it would be great if you could chill and give his responses a chance, you would realise hes not being a bigot/homophobe/bad person, but a decent logical person.

Again, thanks for proving my point. Saying intent doesn't matter might be the stupidest thing ever written anywhere. But I get it. It's easier just to follow the herd than to think for yourself and actually converse with other people about what they meant or what their intentions might be. Good luck going through life with a closed mind and an inability to put together a rational argument.
