What does Ana Brays sex life have to do with saving the galaxy from the Darkness?

Look, I have zero concern about anyone's personal choices or sex life. What anyone does in bed is their business, but two comics in a row devoted mostly to Ana Bray's lesbian kiss, instead of telling us more about the eternal war we are waging against power enemies and the Darkness?!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a f'n break. Take you SJW BS and your poor substitute for good stories and lore that are relevant to the Destiny universe, and burn it. PLEASE, and do it quickly. This crap is killing the fun behind the game. Our guardian has no voice, the lore is ignored and constantly reconned in the most insulting way, and now, two issues of a web comic that could have told us so much about Xol, Nokris, Rasputin, and THE GD TRAVELER, WHICH HASN'T SAID OR DONE ONE TINY THING SINCE IT ALLEGEDLY WOKE UP AND SHOT A BEAM OF LIGHT AND ENERGY TO THE ENDS OF THE GALAXY. Oh, wait. We have a litter problem from all the pieces that got blasted off of the Traveler by the Ghaul, but the GREAT MACHINE, the one that can terraform entire galaxies can't even repair itself. THIS IS ALL JUST SO SAD. Your comic a bad soft core porn at best and have totally ignored everything the community wants to know about the universe we play in. GREAT JOB AS USUAL, BUNGIE. • I couldn't care less about Anna's sexuality. You people need to grow the bleep up. Now as for the comics themselves, they are awful, and it has nothing to do with Anna Bray's sexuality. They are awful because they directly contradict previous lore and functionally do nothing to really expand the lore of the destiny universe. They lack the kind of depth that you found in the grimoire and I sincerely hope they stop with these comics and bring back the grimoire and bring lore back in the right direction. But again, just to be clear, you conservative nut jobs are pathetic. After 5 million years of evolution that fact that you even care about something as trivial as sexual preference is pathetic. Gay, straight, bi who cares? What a failure our species is. Acting like children playing in a sandbox arguing over toys, expect the toys are guns and knives and nukes. Pathetic. Take your dogma, traditions and bigotry and choke on it. Oh and never assume a liberal is a pacifist. I saw some dipshit post on here about spitting in the face of liberals. God help the person that ever tries to spit in mine.

      • Amazing how perfectly this discussion illustrates just how topics like identify politics have allowed far left / far right ideals to dominate our political discourse and news in recent years. Politics in this country (US) have become more polarizing and almost as asinine as professional wrestling. We allow the extremes on each end a much larger voice than either deserves, each touting their moral superiority and uncompromising vision for the country as their reason for holding firm to their ideals. Meanwhile the rest of us have to live in the middle being called bigots by one side, and socialists by the other for wanting to live in the logical center and judge things fairly using data, without prejudice or agenda, and with an eye toward intellectual honesty. The OPs original point, though not tactfully presented or well argued, was that addressing her sexuality or adding a romantic element felt somewhat forced and is narrative which could have been skipped entirely to address more of the questions we have about lore, story, etc. Being that the topics of romance / relationship / sexuality aren't things Bungie has addressed much in the story, I have to agree that it seems a little out of place to address it at all regardless of orientation. His assumption that they only made her love interest of the same sex in order to earn some credit for diversity isn't completely off base, as it's something we've seen other games exploit in recent years in an attempt to earn the same kind of attention or praise. To take the radical centrist view, it's not a bad thing, and it's not a good thing. It just is. Thinking it was oddly placed doesn't necessarily make you a bigot, and praising Bungie for adding some diversity doesn't make you a SJW. My view is it was oddly placed given their lack of addressing the topic in the past, and I do somewhat question their motives for making her love interest female but at the end of the day it neither adds anything to the narrative or character I'm interested in (would be the same if her love interest were male), nor does it repulse me in such a way that it turns me off from the story. It's more of the same uninspired and bland storytelling which we should all be used to from Bungie by now, and I'm sure we'll be equally uninterested by whatever half cooked fan fiction they come up with next.

        • Also my issue is that LGBT people feel like every single organism in the entire universe needs to know how they are. Be gay, thats fine, i dont care, stop shoving your SJW talk down my throat. The entire universe doesn't need to know your gay.

Its filler Not only does it do nothing to advance the plot but it's filler, in there just for the sake of being there, And yes, that pretty much means it's a forced agenda If it was a crimson days comic, or like the overwatch comic where tracer finally had a break on Christmas and rushed to find a gift. Then it makes sense, it advances the theme and plot. For Ana bray it's forced and just tasteless I'm not a homophobe, I just appreciate if the authors respected their own world. This filler and retconnning has gotten bad

          • Liberals and social justice warriors will be the downfall of society. You can only force your ideals so far down someone's throat before people start gagging. That being said how could anyone take a comic written by these nerds serious anyway?

            • Looks like Ana was wearing her Lucky Pants then. Just went and read the comic and its a bit cringe worthy to say the least. But show me the white male strong character in Destiny. Zavala doesn't count as he's the love child of Vin Diesel and a smurf. The closest us white men get to a character matching our ethnicity is Arach Jalal .. and he's basically a tramp in eyeliner who, in between faction rallies, can be seen rummaging through skips for unwanted clothes and food scraps. If Bungie want to be inclusive, diverse or whatever the watchword is these days then great, all for it. But cater for EVERYONE, not just those deemed to be "minorities" or you end up actually doing the very thing you set out to avoid.

              • OK... let me start be CLEARLY stating that I have nothing against gay people. That said, I do feel that businesses should keep their politics to themselves. When they don't they end up alienating customers which is just not good business. This game is rated T (which means you know kids younger than 13 will be playing it and likely reading these comics) and I found it extremely inappropriate to push political propaganda onto readers that are not mature enough to understand what's going on. If Bungie employees want to support some political agenda on their own time, on their own non-business related social media accounts then that's fine. Just keep your politics out of business. I get bombarded by politics enough the way it is and I don't want my hobby to be polluted with it too (even with things I do support). - I do believe that they did this because of pride month. - No, I don't want to see heterosexual romances in a video game (comic) either. If I wanted romance I would go read a smut novel. - I don't care if they hint at her sexual preference (either gay or straight), but they don't need to put it front and center and make it the dominant theme. Her sexual preference does NOTHING to further the Destiny story. - All this was was a political stunt to push their support for a SJW issue.

                  • If it's not been evident enough with D1 and D2's lack of content and poor storytelling, I would guess Bungie's attempt at comics should seal the deal on their creative writing ability.

                  • It’s Mark Waid so you should set your expectations low. Also just grow up, there is no reason to care so much about some garbage side content that’s cranked out to supplement a video game. Women kiss each other, if video game women kiss each other in a comic book it’s nothing to freak out over.

                    • I'm bi.
Sexually identify as both an F-104G Starfighter and a Howitzer.
So here's my question: is the relationship necessary to the story or major character development? I could do things on the side with a vacuum cleaner and feel bad if it's motor burned out during a big cleaning session so I could get my deposit back (it died so I could live on), but that makes it neither a significant major character nor a relationship I'd say would define or develop my character. Now if something got stuck and everyone remembered me as that guy who sat in the emergency room with a vacuum hose extending from my pants, then that would be an aspect of the relationship that defines my character.

I’m heterosexual though, so it probably won’t sell and if I’m just heterosexual the story is......... I just -blam!-ed off, for a bit? Don’t hate on the gay, I’ve not read the thing but I’m sure there is more to it than, she’s gay?

Funny how everyone thought her sexuality was so cool——Ana Bae—-when they were assuming she were straight. Seems this demand for relevance is a fig leaf to try to put an acceptable face on an “irritation” with her being gay. Since we never complain about heterosexual romances being parts of stories. I don’t remember anyone complaining about Halsey or Cortana crushing on The Master Chief getting in the way of his saving the galaxy. Funny..... Gay people are part of the human race. Always have been. Always will be. Sounds like you have a problem. Deal with it.

I really wanted to like this idea of a Destiny comic. The last two issues were disappointing to say the least. The art is (nothing personal against the artist) not good. The story is focused on character development for an NPC. Great, how many NPCs in Destiny's past were introduced who may never be seen or heard from again in the franchise (ie. The Stranger, Osiris you still out there?). More about the Bray family, their company, or Rasputin would be Destiny universe information that I could appreciate and incorporate into the grand scheme.... but Ana the orphan, lesbian struggling with her 'reality' is young adult teen drama that is irrelevant to my vision of a sci-fi shooter. Not my production though. Love ya Destiny, but your comic series is becoming completely irrelevant for me and I no longer look forward to them.

                            • Really? People can't handle 1 panel out of 12 pages showing 2 women kiss? The problem isn't with the comic, it's with the reader.

This is how it works. If you can not come up with a compelling story you just insert progressive garbage into it so that it can not be criticized. Its so edgy and diverse that it does not matter that its otherwise not interesting.

                                • I do apologize in advance for my word choice. I do not mean any offense in the verbiage I use, I just feel that it captures the essence of the conversation. The sexuality of Anna Bray is not a vital piece of information, nor is a pivotal part of story that plays into the larger picture. If any of you who have done any extended education in story creation, building, and writing would know that having a good foundation for your character or characters is key to a great storied universe. We want elements of our favorite characters to be brought out, to allow us to connect to them. Now if we analyze this element, this has two sides to it. The sexuality Anna Bray allows players and readers to have a new element to connect because of her sexuality, now on the other side, It does feel forced now if you apply real world politicly climate to the story element due to the saturation of everything going on. If you compare years ago what DC Comics did to the character Alan Scott or to The Question, you can understand why some individuals (rare few who just enjoy a good story and a well written character) may react in a negative way, not out of bigotry, but out of exasperation. Now sadly, you do have the morons out their who are the first-class assholes, that can’t handle the fact that heroes can also be in a relationship with the same gender. There could be multiple reasons why Bungie elected to “share” this part of Anna Bray with us, as it could have been a marketing ploy to lure more gamers in because they are now cementing one of their main characters in the LGBT community. Destiny lore never really has touched on if currently can love, or if it’s forbidden to love if you’re a Guardian. What if it’s like the Jedi code and love or scrumpin leads to the Dark Side? My end thought is this, don’t make it out to be more than it is. If she fingers bangs women, awesome. The character can be whatever she is made out to be! Let’s move on and get back to enjoying the game. If her loving women hurt’s you that much, go play Call of Duty. Now on the other side, don’t wave your -blam!-ing banner and force it in every one’s face that Anna Bray loves to Daisy Chain… Again, not pivotal information that will destroy the Hive or the Vex… My thought on Anna Bray, I feel that Bungie did a poor job on the character in Warmind, the character development was piss poor and I found that I rather talk to Brother Vance than Anna Bray half the time. The way they portrayed her character in Warmind was one dimensional and it was truly sad with the end result that they gave the community. I hope that the comic series could be a on going run that will correct a failed attempt at something that could have been remarkable.
