The Bungie community has been around for (to quote you) an internet age, dare I say it but even before Destiny! Off topic & gaming is exactly that! Anything & everything is fair game in there, very seldom is critical feedback for Destiny 2 top of the agenda. What's your next move? Sensorship of the '15 minutes of fame' brigade, over on YouTube & the plunketts on Twitch, because they aren't glowing with positive praise? Further deluding themselves into thinking a 'career' is hanging on the coattails of one video game?! & now they're struggling for views to pay for Doritos. Maybe try shipping a finished product (like the old days) & less of your paying customers will find reasons to be overly critical, instead of sweeping what's left of the Bungie community under the carpet.
