85% of Destiny 2's player base is gone.....

These numbers are as of Jan 4th. They're probably even less now. The numbers will in crease when the next DLC comes out. People will play it because they've already paid for it. The new DLC will most likely be a huge disappoinment and the player base will shrink to a new low. It's too late to try and roll out updates incrementally. The only hope Bungo has if they released all promised changes within the next thirty days, but this won't happen because it's to hard, or it takes too long. If they would have released a better game from launch they wouldn't be on a time crunch. R.I.P Bungo/Halo/Destiny, it was fun untill Bungo made an even bigger mistake than EA made with BF2. R.I.P.

Who would have thought that a gutted re-skin with less choices and boring loot would chase away the player base in droves? Crazy, huh?

    • Not surprised in the slightest. D2 May have sold well but that doesn’t make it a good game, in fact D2 has burnt bungie’s reputation to the ground in my opinion.

I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak to myself, and probably other avid gamers. Destiny 2 consists of a 5 hour loop of Milestones. Literally, that's end game. That's it. Do some public events, do a few strikes, a Nightfall (which is just a strike) and maybe a little PVP or a raid. That's the entire game. And what do we play endgame for? Loot that says number 335 on it. You don't feel any different, you don't play the game any different, there's no point to it. Just do it because 335. Whichever idiot thought this was a passable end game experience needs to quit video game development forever.

            • Just here to remind everyone that this is exactly what Destiny tracker was talking about
We've removed this chart because people are using it to spread a false narrative of the Destiny 2 player population. Daily Unique users is a misleading statistics to use as basis for the active population of the game, any game in that matter. Not everyone plays video games 24/7, besides maybe at launch. We hoped our article would've cleared this up a bit but it seems it hasn't. To halt people from making false narratives based on the numbers we provide we decided to stop showing them in this chart.
The article literally says a supposed 75% drop in players and immediately after states the information is neither official nor accurate . But hey there's a graph

              • I for one am honored to replay the same broken and boring raid over and over for a chance to make my armor a different color. And if I get sick of that, I can just buy boxes that probably won't have anything I want in them.

              • There's a very good reason for the drop. When Destiny 1 had run its course, Bungie had created a small and fiercely loyal fanbase for that game. Those players lived and breathed Destiny. Most of them probably played no other game. They might not have been like the poor saps in the "Destiny Support Group" video. Hopefully no one died because Xur was selling Ice Breaker, or lost their family because of the Oversoul. And we can only hope no one did THAT to the game. However, those fans would have followed Bungie anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE, as long as D1 had been more of the same. They would have followed them through swamps, oceans, or lava pits. They'd have followed them up a hill of hungry fire ants, down a sinkhole full of quicksand, across the fields of Antarctica in July, through a nuclear winter, over Mt. Everest, under a thousand electrified guillotine blades, or into a hospital on Free Chili Pepper Enema Day (yes, that really was a thing once). And all Bungie had to do was KEEP DESTINY 2'S META LIKE DESTINY 1's!! But... well... they didn't. They betrayed their loyal fans, courted the casuals, made nicey-nice to the PvP tryhards and Esports crowd. And one by one, three by three, ten by ten, their loyal players went elsewhere. Some to the Division. Some to Monster Hunter. My clan leader went to Rainbow Six Siege (and I never even got to finish Leviathan or play Eater of Worlds). And the casuals moved on, and the PvP tryhards took one look at the "balanced" Crucible and turned up their noses. So now... well, Destiny 2 is in a precarious position. Some players, so addicted to Destiny that they couldn't get into anything else (and don't think some of us didn't try!) are still present. Others are trying the game and learning to like it on its own merits. But because its central fanbase was so badly decimated, the Destiny franchise is going to need time to recover. Time, and a lot of good decisions by Bungie: with Anthem coming fast, and the Division's issues mostly addressed, they can't afford to keep alienating people.

                • There is a lot of hot air being spewed by the naysayer crowd. Revisit this thought when the "Go Fast" update drops. Look at any point in the history of Destiny, 1 or 2. Counts drop, people get bitchy, the end is nigh. Things improve, rose colored glasses get donned, does anyone else miss vanilla D2? Rinse and repeat.

                    • Hmm i would say the Title of your post shows you have not read the article:
1.3 million at launch to just over 321,000 at the end of year, which is a drop of 75.37 percent
But yes they took a big hit last year, sadly we can't get D2 isolated data to compare how it's been the first weeks of 2018 in comparison.

This game will be fine guys. 80% of that 85% that left will be back as soon as the dlc drops, play for a week and leave again. Seriously 4 years haven't taught you that?

Yeah Bungie made some strange design choices but people will come back, remember post taken king drought how the game was so "dead" and then fast forward a year and a bit when AoT had everyone playing again? even the haters won't stay away...

                        • I swear the bungie “community” (large gathering of 13 year olds with some adults) don’t seem to understand how games work outside of destiny. Player counts change. Surprisingly more people play it at release than a few months after release.
